When we were asked by our clients to help fully overhaul this grade II listed property. We knew we needed to consider the spaces for modern day living and make it as open and light and airy as possible. There were a few specifics from our client, but on the whole we were left to the design the main brief being modern country with colour and pattern. There were some challenges along the way as the house is octagonal in shape and some rooms, especially the principal ensuite were quite a challenge.

Clean lines and warm colors. Thassos marble chevron wall mosaic with onyx. Onyx countertops with drop in flat bottom rectangular sinks matching the rectangular Victoria and Albert freestanding tub. Built in to the custom made mirror is a television.

Wake up and walk into this marble master bathroom oasis. The walk-in shower features a dimensional marble tile and is paired with marble stacked tile and flooring. The custom glaze on the cabinets catches all of the natural daylight as it flows through all of the windows.

Modern technology played an integral part of this classic bathroom design – a carrara marble mosaic floor blends perfectly with a porcelain wall tile that looks exactly like carrara. Side by side, the materials look the same! Hidden-toe kick lighting highlights the mosaic floor while also providing the perfect nightlight. The free-standing tub, polished nickel plumbing fixtures, crystal door and cabinet hardware, and crystal sconces are beautiful elegant additions to this spectacular space. Mr. and Mrs. Hinojos wanted to enlarge their shower and still have a tub. Space was tight, so we used a deep tub with a small footprint. The deck of the tub continues into the shower to create a bench. I used the same marble for the vanity countertop as the tub deck. The linear mosaic tile I used in the two wall recesses: the bay window and the niche in the shower.

After moving into a luxurious home in Ashburn, Virginia, the homeowners decided the master bathroom needed to be revamped. The existing whirlpool tub was far too big, the shower too small and the make-up area poorly designed. From a functional standpoint, they wanted lots of storage, his and her separate vanities with a large make-up area, better lighting, a large steam shower and a vaulted ceiling. Aesthetics were also important, however, and the lady of the house had always dreamed of having a Venetian style spa. Taking some space from an adjacent closet has allowed for a much larger shower stall with an arched transom window letting plenty of natural light into the space. Using various sizes of tumbled limestone to build its walls, it includes a rain shower head, a hand shower and body sprayers. A seating bench and storage niches make it easier to use. New plumbing was put in place to add a large vanity with upper glass cabinets for the man of the house, while one corner of the space was used to create a make-up desk complete with a seamless mirror and embedded sconce lights A free standing Neapolitan-style soaking tub with fluted columns and arched header is the real focal point of this space. Set among large corner windows, under a stylish chandelier, this elegant design sets this bathroom apart from any bathroom in its category.
