The new en-suite – created by stealing some space from the large formal lounge - features traditional-look tiles, bronze tapware, and a bold black and white theme. The Plumbline Impero back-to-wall Toilet Suite with Impero Soft Close Black Gloss Seat completes the look.

In 2019 this bathroom was remodeled for the five boys to use. The window in this bathroom was closed to allow for the addition, but this bathroom was able to get an updated layout and within the addition another bathroom was added. The homeowners’ love for blue and white became the cornerstone of this bathroom’s design. To achieve their vision of a ship-inspired space, we introduced a color scheme that seamlessly blended these two favorite hues. The bathroom features two sinks, each with round mirrors and three blue light fixtures, giving it a nautical charm that is both calming and cohesive with the rest of this home’s updates. The bathroom boasts a range of functional and aesthetic elements, including painted cabinets that complement the color scheme, Corian countertops that offer a sleek and easy-to-maintain surface, and a wood-grained tile floor that adds warmth and texture to the space. The use of white and blue subway tile, wainscot tile surrounding the room, and black hardware create a nautical vibe that’s not only visually appealing but also durable. Stainless faucets and hooks (rather than towel bars) are not only stylish but also practical for a busy bathroom. A perfect mix of blue hues and clean white tile make this bathroom a retreat! The addition of the crane wallpaper tied the space together and made this room unique.

We were referred by one of our best clients to help these clients re-imagine the main level public space of their new-to-them home. They felt the home was nicely done, just not their style. They chose the house for the location, pool in the backyard and amazing basement space with theater and bar. At the very first walk through we started throwing out big ideas, like removing all the walls, new kitchen layout, metal staircase, grand, but modern fireplace. They loved it all and said that this is the forever home... so not that money doesn't matter, but they want to do it once and love it. Tschida Construction was our partner-in-crime and we brought the house from formal to modern with some really cool features. Our favorites were the faux concrete two story fireplace, the mirrored french doors at the front entry that allows you to see out but not in, and the statement quartzite island counter stone.

Luscious Bathroom in Storrington, West Sussex A luscious green bathroom design is complemented by matt black accents and unique platform for a feature bath. The Brief The aim of this project was to transform a former bedroom into a contemporary family bathroom, complete with a walk-in shower and freestanding bath. This Storrington client had some strong design ideas, favouring a green theme with contemporary additions to modernise the space. Storage was also a key design element. To help minimise clutter and create space for decorative items an inventive solution was required. Design Elements The design utilises some key desirables from the client as well as some clever suggestions from our bathroom designer Martin. The green theme has been deployed spectacularly, with metro tiles utilised as a strong accent within the shower area and multiple storage niches. All other walls make use of neutral matt white tiles at half height, with William Morris wallpaper used as a leafy and natural addition to the space. A freestanding bath has been placed central to the window as a focal point. The bathing area is raised to create separation within the room, and three pendant lights fitted above help to create a relaxing ambience for bathing. Special Inclusions Storage was an important part of the design. A wall hung storage unit has been chosen in a Fjord Green Gloss finish, which works well with green tiling and the wallpaper choice. Elsewhere plenty of storage niches feature within the room. These add storage for everyday essentials, decorative items, and conceal items the client may not want on display. A sizeable walk-in shower was also required as part of the renovation, with designer Martin opting for a Crosswater enclosure in a matt black finish. The matt black finish teams well with other accents in the room like the Vado brassware and Eastbrook towel rail. Project Highlight The platformed bathing area is a great highlight of this family bathroom space. It delivers upon the freestanding bath requirement of the brief, with soothing lighting additions that elevate the design. Wood-effect porcelain floor tiling adds an additional natural element to this renovation. The End Result The end result is a complete transformation from the former bedroom that utilised this space. The client and our designer Martin have combined multiple great finishes and design ideas to create a dramatic and contemporary, yet functional, family bathroom space. This new build architectural gem required a sensitive approach to balance the strong modernist language with the personal, emotive feel desired by the clients. Taking inspiration from the California MCM aesthetic, we added bold colour blocking, interesting textiles and patterns, and eclectic lighting to soften the glazing, crisp detailing and linear forms. With a focus on juxtaposition and contrast, we played with the ‘mix’; utilising a blend of new & vintage pieces, differing shapes & textures, and touches of whimsy for a lived in feel.

This modern primary (master) suite remodel was created by taking two guest bedrooms and combining the spaces to create one stunning primary suite. Featuring hexagonal tiled heated flooring and a beautiful chevron patterned tiled shower.

We planned a thoughtful redesign of this beautiful home while retaining many of the existing features. We wanted this house to feel the immediacy of its environment. So we carried the exterior front entry style into the interiors, too, as a way to bring the beautiful outdoors in. In addition, we added patios to all the bedrooms to make them feel much bigger. Luckily for us, our temperate California climate makes it possible for the patios to be used consistently throughout the year. The original kitchen design did not have exposed beams, but we decided to replicate the motif of the 30" living room beams in the kitchen as well, making it one of our favorite details of the house. To make the kitchen more functional, we added a second island allowing us to separate kitchen tasks. The sink island works as a food prep area, and the bar island is for mail, crafts, and quick snacks. We designed the primary bedroom as a relaxation sanctuary – something we highly recommend to all parents. It features some of our favorite things: a cognac leather reading chair next to a fireplace, Scottish plaid fabrics, a vegetable dye rug, art from our favorite cities, and goofy portraits of the kids. --- Project designed by Courtney Thomas Design in La Cañada. Primary bathroom remodel with steel blue double vanity and tower linen cabinet, quartz countertop, petite free-standing soaking tub, custom shower with floating bench and glass doors, herringbone porcelain tile floor, v-groove wall paneling, white ceramic subway tile in shower, and a beautiful color palette of blues, taupes, creams and sparkly chrome.

An original 1930’s English Tudor with only 2 bedrooms and 1 bath spanning about 1730 sq.ft. was purchased by a family with 2 amazing young kids, we saw the potential of this property to become a wonderful nest for the family to grow. The plan was to reach a 2550 sq. ft. home with 4 bedroom and 4 baths spanning over 2 stories. With continuation of the exiting architectural style of the existing home. A large 1000sq. ft. addition was constructed at the back portion of the house to include the expended master bedroom and a second-floor guest suite with a large observation balcony overlooking the mountains of Angeles Forest. An L shape staircase leading to the upstairs creates a moment of modern art with an all white walls and ceilings of this vaulted space act as a picture frame for a tall window facing the northern mountains almost as a live landscape painting that changes throughout the different times of day. Tall high sloped roof created an amazing, vaulted space in the guest suite with 4 uniquely designed windows extruding out with separate gable roof above. The downstairs bedroom boasts 9’ ceilings, extremely tall windows to enjoy the greenery of the backyard, vertical wood paneling on the walls add a warmth that is not seen very often in today’s new build. The master bathroom has a showcase 42sq. walk-in shower with its own private south facing window to illuminate the space with natural morning light. A larger format wood siding was using for the vanity backsplash wall and a private water closet for privacy. In the interior reconfiguration and remodel portion of the project the area serving as a family room was transformed to an additional bedroom with a private bath, a laundry room and hallway. The old bathroom was divided with a wall and a pocket door into a powder room the leads to a tub room. The biggest change was the kitchen area, as befitting to the 1930’s the dining room, kitchen, utility room and laundry room were all compartmentalized and enclosed. We eliminated all these partitions and walls to create a large open kitchen area that is completely open to the vaulted dining room. This way the natural light the washes the kitchen in the morning and the rays of sun that hit the dining room in the afternoon can be shared by the two areas. The opening to the living room remained only at 8’ to keep a division of space.
