After renovating their neutrally styled master bath Gardner/Fox helped their clients create this farmhouse-inspired master bathroom, with subtle modern undertones. The original room was dominated by a seldom-used soaking tub and shower stall. Now, the master bathroom includes a glass-enclosed shower, custom walnut double vanity, make-up vanity, linen storage, and a private toilet room.

This serene master bathroom design forms part of a master suite that is sure to make every day brighter. The large master bathroom includes a separate toilet compartment with a Toto toilet for added privacy, and is connected to the bedroom and the walk-in closet, all via pocket doors. The main part of the bathroom includes a luxurious freestanding Victoria + Albert bathtub situated near a large window with a Riobel chrome floor mounted tub spout. It also has a one-of-a-kind open shower with a cultured marble gray shower base, 12 x 24 polished Venatino wall tile with 1" chrome Schluter Systems strips used as a unique decorative accent. The shower includes a storage niche and shower bench, along with rainfall and handheld showerheads, and a sandblasted glass panel. Next to the shower is an Amba towel warmer. The bathroom cabinetry by Koch and Company incorporates two vanity cabinets and a floor to ceiling linen cabinet, all in a Fairway door style in charcoal blue, accented by Alno hardware crystal knobs and a super white granite eased edge countertop. The vanity area also includes undermount sinks with chrome faucets, Granby sconces, and Luna programmable lit mirrors. Great design makes all the difference - bold material choices were just what was needed to give this little bathroom some BIG personality! Our clients wanted a dark, moody vibe, but had always heard that using dark colors in a small space would only make it feel smaller. Not true! Introducing a larger vanity cabinet with more storage and replacing the tub with an expansive walk-in shower immediately made the space feel larger, without any structural alterations. We went with a dark graphite tile that had a mix of texture on the walls and in the shower, but then anchored the space with white shiplap on the upper portion of the walls and a graphic floor tile (with mostly white and light gray tones). This technique of balancing dark tones with lighter tones is key to achieving those moody vibes, without creeping into cavernous territory. Subtle gray/blue/green tones on the vanity blend in well, but still pop in the space, and matte black fixtures add fantastic contrast to really finish off the whole look!

This bathroom remodel was designed by Nicole from our Windham showroom. This remodel features Cabico Essence cabinets with maple wood, Stretto door style (flat panel) and Bonavista (blue paint) finish. This remodel also features LG viatera Quartz countertop with Rococo color and standard edge. This also was used for shelves in the shower. The floor and shower walls is 12” x 24” by Mediterranean with Marmol Venatino color in honed. The shampoo niche is also in the same tile and color but in 2” x 2” size in honed. Other features includes Maax tub in white, Moen chrome faucet, Kohler Caxton white sink, Moen Chrome Showerhead, Moen Chrome Valve Trim, Moen Flara Chrome light fixture, Moen chrome Towel Ring, and Moen chrome double robe hook. The hardware is by Amerock with Chrome Handles and Knobs.

Guest Bathroom - This Guest bathroom offers a tub/shower and large vanity in one room and across the hall is a powder room with a small vanity and toilet. The large white tile in the tub area are stacked to offer a very clean look. The client wanted a glass door but without the track. We installed a swing door that covers about half the tub area. The vanities have flat door and drawer fronts for a very clean transitional looks that is accented with round brass hardware. The mirror is built-in to a featured tile wall and framed by two alabaster sconces. The dark blue tile floor complements the vanities and the age of the overall home. The powder room features three floating shelves for décor and storage.

Complete Guest Home Rebuild

The loss of this guest home was a devastation to this family in Lynwood, California, so we wanted to make their new guest house as comforting as possible. Originally this guest house had a sauna and some niche spaces, with swing out doors that took up the small floor space it had to offer, so we streamlined the area to give it us much usable space as possible. We replaced the front door with a new 6 foot slider with a screen and a lock for privacy and safety. Added a wall of closet closing where the sauna once was, that is closed in with new six panel sliding doors, and a matching pocket door for the restroom. New recessed lighting, a new dual function air conditioning and heating unit fill the main room of the home. In the bathroom we created storage with a linen cupboard and some shelving, and utilized a quartz counter top to match the vanity. The vanity is made of that same quartz that mimics Carrera marble, with a square edge profile for a contemporary feel. With only a 16” space to work with we placed a small undermount sink, and a corner mounted chrome faucet, which tops an accented, custom built navy blue cabinet. The 3’x3’ shower fits snugly in the corner of the room and offers a wall mounted rain shower head by Moen, also in chrome. A wall niche filled with blue hexagon glass tile adds usable space, with a 2”x2” mosaic porcelain tile on the floor that has the look of calacatta marble. A simple brick pattern was used to line the walls of the shower for simplicity in a small space. To finish the area and make the rooms flow, we utilized a waterproof laminate that has a wonderful warm tone, and looks like a 7 inch hard wood plank flooring. All in all, this space, although there was loss, is now better than it had ever been, and is a great new guest home for this family.
