Safari Lodge In Kenya Bathroom

After the Antique

In the heart of Africa, this was an inspiring project to be part of. A stunning and luxurious new safari lodge was being built in the hills in Kenya, and the project required several significant fireplaces in the main rooms. A vital element of the design brief was that the fireplaces should reflect the wildlife that can be found around the house. Each fireplace is unique to its room, and different scenes of elephants, buffalos, lions and impala can be seen in the different fireplaces. The Master bathroom in this house had a spectacular view across the plains and needed a luxurious bath in which to lie and look out over the vista. We made a solid roll top marble bath from which to enjoy the views.

Fu-Tung Cheng, CHENG Design • Bathroom featuring Stainless Steel Trough Sink, Mammoth Lakes home The entry way is the focal point of this mountain home, with a pared concrete wall leading you into a "decompression" chamber as foyer - a place to shed your coat and come in from the cold in the filtered light of the stacked-glass skylight. The earthy, contemporary look and feel of the exterior is further played upon once inside the residence, as the open-plan spaces reflect solid, substantial lines. Mountain Park - Bedroom into a Bathroom

Angela Todd Studios | Portland, OR

We collaborated with T.H.E. Remodel Group to define a space plan that opened up the existing hall bathroom and entered the neighboring bedroom. This space allowed us to double the size of the shower and added needed closet storage, two vanity sinks, custom cabinetry with storage and radiant heating. The client was fond of contemporary yet classic design, and we settled on classic Carrera marble for the countertops, with chrome accents. To give the bathroom a bit of contemporary punch we selected an unexpected Sombera yellow for the walls. To coordinate with the vanity, we chose for the master shower a gorgeous easy-care porcelain tile reminiscent of Carrera marble. This new generation tile is almost impossible to detect porcelain versus natural stone, but allows the homeowners to enjoy zero maintenance and easy clean up. Project 3307-1 St. Paul Summit Ave Whole-House Remodel w/ Custom Mosaic Shower

No strangers to remodeling, the new owners of this St. Paul tudor knew they could update this decrepit 1920 duplex into a single-family forever home. A list of desired amenities was a catalyst for turning a bedroom into a large mudroom, an open kitchen space where their large family can gather, an additional exterior door for direct access to a patio, two home offices, an additional laundry room central to bedrooms, and a large master bathroom. To best understand the complexity of the floor plan changes, see the construction documents. As for the aesthetic, this was inspired by a deep appreciation for the durability, colors, textures and simplicity of Norwegian design. The home’s light paint colors set a positive tone. An abundance of tile creates character. New lighting reflecting the home’s original design is mixed with simplistic modern lighting. To pay homage to the original character several light fixtures were reused, wallpaper was repurposed at a ceiling, the chimney was exposed, and a new coffered ceiling was created. Overall, this eclectic design style was carefully thought out to create a cohesive design throughout the home. Come see this project in person, September 29 – 30th on the 2018 Castle Home Tour.

Overhead recessed light is moisture resistant, which prevents corrosion and increases the life span of the fixture. 3”x12” subway tiles on the walls, from floor to ceiling, are easy to clean and are water-proof.

(It’s also the most budget-friendly option in terms of plumbing). Maybe separate rooms for toilet and shower make sense? Maybe you want to work with a window above a bathtub or in the shower. You may live in an old house where you can keep some of the original character of the home, or you may be working with a small apartment space. 2 Consider How You Use Your Bathroom

Once you’ve gathered some inspiration, have a think about who is using the room, and how they will be using it. You may also want to accommodate a washer and dryer in the bathroom, since it’s where clothes are taken off frequently. Also consider safety and cleaning.
