Renovation and expansion of a 1930s-era classic. Buying an old house can be daunting. But with careful planning and some creative thinking, phasing the improvements helped this family realize their dreams over time. The original International Style house was built in 1934 and had been largely untouched except for a small sunroom addition. Phase 1 construction involved opening up the interior and refurbishing all of the finishes. Phase 2 included a sunroom/master bedroom extension, renovation of an upstairs bath, a complete overhaul of the landscape and the addition of a swimming pool and terrace. And thirteen years after the owners purchased the home, Phase 3 saw the addition of a completely private master bedroom & closet, an entry vestibule and powder room, and a new covered porch.

This en-suite bathroom is all about fun. We opted for a monochrome style to contrast with the colourful guest bedroom. We sourced geometric tiles that make blur the edges of the space and bring a contemporary feel to the space.

Not much could have been done here with the floorplan but the upgrades were quite dramatic. Double floating vanity, full height mirrors, two different tiles in tub shower.

The adorable hall bath is used by the family's 5 boys.

This bright and cheery kid's bathroom has come a long way from the original dark and boring bathroom. Incorporating a tumbled glass mosaic that resembles sea glass, added a touch of whimsy. Additional storage was essential for a shared bathroom. A porcelain countertop with integral sink makes for easy cleaning. Recessed can lighting provides plenty of general lighting and a light bar above the sink add great additional task lighting. L'alcova della vasca doccia è rivestita in mosaico in vetro verde della bisazza, formato rettangolare. Rubinetteria Hansgrohe. Scaldasalviette della Deltacalor con tubolari ribaltabili. Vasca idromassaggio della Kaldewei in acciaio. Pareti colorate in smalto verde. Seduta contenitore in corian. Le pareti del volume vasca doccia non arrivano a soffitto e la copertura è realizzata con un vetro apribile. Un'anta scorrevole in vetro permette di chiudere la zona doccia. A pavimento sono state recuperate le vecchie cementine originali della casa che hanno colore base verde da cui è originata la scelta del rivestimento e colore pareti.

Part of a whole house remodel where every space was touched and several spaces were re-located for better function, these two bathrooms are now perfectly adapted for their users. The hall bath/kids bath has 2 vanities for no waiting, a large shower stall with a wavy tile accent wall and lots of storage including a hamper drawer. The master bath has a large soaking tub, a two person shower stall with pebble tile floor, lots of vanity space in a modern walnut and is light, bright and spacious.

Das Wellnessbad wird als Bad en Suite über den Schlafbereich der Dachgeschossebene durch eine doppelflügelige Schiebetür betreten. Die geschickte Anordnung des Doppelwaschtischs mit der dahinter liegenden Großraumdusche, der Panoramasauna mit Ganzglaswänden sowie der optisch freistehenden Badewanne nutzen den Raum mit Dachschräge optimal aus, so dass ein großzügiger Raumeindruck entsteht, dabei bleibt sogar Fläche für einen zukünftigen Schminkplatz übrig. Die warmtonigen Wandfarben stehen im harmonischen Dialog mit den Hölzern der Sauna und der Schrankeinbauten sowie mit den dunklen, großformatigen Fliesen. Die Sauna wurde maßgenau unter der Dachschräge des Wellnessbades eingebaut. Zum Raum hin nur durch Glasflächen abgeteilt, wird sie nicht als störender Kasten im Raum wahrgenommen, sondern bildet mit diesem eine Einheit. Dieser Eindruck wird dadurch verstärkt, dass die untere Sitzbank auf der Schmalseite der Sauna in gleicher Höhe und Tiefe scheinbar durch das Glas hindurch in das anschließende Lowboard übergeht, in das die Badewanne partiell freistehend eingeschoben ist. Die großformatigen Bodenfliesen des Bades wurden zum selben Zweck in der Sauna weitergeführt. Die Glaswände stehen haargenau im Verlauf der Fliesenfugen.
