The coffered floor was inspired by the coffered ceilings in the rest of the home. To create it, 18" squares of Calcutta marble were honed to give them an aged look and set into borders of porcelain tile that mimics walnut beams. Because there is radiant heat underneath, the floor stays toasty all year round. For the cabinetry, the goal was to create units that looked like they were heirloom pieces of furniture that had been rolled into the room. To emphasize this impression, castors were custom-made for the walnut double-sink vanity with Botticino marble top. There are two framed and recessed medicine cabinets in the wall above. This project combines the original bedroom, small bathroom and closets into a single, open and light-filled space. Once stripped to its exterior walls, we inserted back into the center of the space a single freestanding cabinetry piece that organizes movement around the room. This mahogany “box” creates a headboard for the bed, the vanity for the bath, and conceals a walk-in closet and powder room inside. While the detailing is not traditional, we preserved the traditional feel of the home through a warm and rich material palette and the re-conception of the space as a garden room. This guest bathroom only needed minor changes in order to achieve the updated look our clients wanted. We started by retiling the shower walls, which are now covered with contemporary gray tiles complete with four new corner shelves! For an added luxury, we placed a freestanding teak bench inside the walk-in shower, which offers additional function and a unique contrast of elements. Our last touch was installing brand new quartz countertops - which was one of our favorite touches as the quartz showcases a unique design that really makes a powerful but timeless statement. Designed by Chi Renovation & Design who serve Chicago and it's surrounding suburbs, with an emphasis on the North Side and North Shore. You'll find their work from the Loop through Lincoln Park, Skokie, Wilmette, and all of the way up to Lake Forest. Love that free standing tub...it looks like this guest bathroom was designed around the tub. The flooring is a wood look porcelain tile, perfect for a great look and clean-up if the tub gets a little too full! The double vanities are covered with a natural Sea Grass Limestone. The hanging tilt mirrors are another nice touch to this lovely bath with plenty of space and personality.

A mother and father of three children, these hard-working parents expressed their remodeling objectives: •A clearly-defined master suite consisting of bathroom, walk-in closet and bedroom. •The bathroom should be large enough for an additional shower, a tub, two sinks instead of one, and storage for towels and paper items. •Their dream feature for the walk-in closet was an island to use as a place for shoe

View of the shower for the guest bathroom...love the glass barn door along with the pebble shower floor. Shower walls are white subway tile and an accent tile border of 1 x 1 textured natural limestone mosaic. Each mosaic tile has a different pattern chiseled into it, for a unique border look.
