Summary of Scope: gut renovation/reconfiguration of kitchen, coffee bar, mudroom, powder room, 2 kids baths, guest bath, master bath and dressing room, kids study and playroom, study/office, laundry room, restoration of windows, adding wallpapers and window treatments Background/description: The house was built in 1908, my clients are only the 3rd owners of the house. The prior owner lived there from 1940s until she died at age of 98! The old home had loads of character and charm but was in pretty bad condition and desperately needed updates. The clients purchased the home a few years ago and did some work before they moved in (roof, HVAC, electrical) but decided to live in the house for a 6 months or so before embarking on the next renovation phase. I had worked with the clients previously on the wife's office space and a few projects in a previous home including the nursery design for their first child so they reached out when they were ready to start thinking about the interior renovations. The goal was to respect and enhance the historic architecture of the home but make the spaces more functional for this couple with two small kids. Clients were open to color and some more bold/unexpected design choices. The design style is updated traditional with some eclectic elements. An early design decision was to incorporate a dark colored french range which would be the focal point of the kitchen and to do dark high gloss lacquered cabinets in the adjacent coffee bar, and we ultimately went with dark green.

This kids bath has fun and bold triangular teal tile in the combination tub/shower. The vanity cabinet is white oak, with tapered feet, and 6 drawers. A quartz countertop is durable and stain-resistant. Chrome plumbing is low-maintenance. A large mirror over the vanity expands the space, bouncing light from the window around. An enclosed toilet room means that multiple kids can use the bathroom at the same time.

The previous owners had already converted the second bedroom into a large bathroom, but the use of space was terrible, and the colour scheme was drab and uninspiring. The clients wanted a space that reflected their love of colour and travel, taking influences from around the globe. They also required better storage as the washing machine needed to be accommodated within the space. And they were keen to have both a modern freestanding bath and a large walk-in shower, and they wanted the room to feel cosy rather than just full of hard surfaces. This is the main bathroom in the house, and they wanted it to make a statement, but with a fairly tight budget!

Primary bathroom renovation. Navy, gray, and black are balanced by crisp whites and light wood tones. Eclectic mix of geometric shapes and organic patterns. Authentic, hand-pierced Moroccan globe light over tub for beautiful shadows for relaxing and romantic soaks in the tub. Vanity pendant lights with handmade glass, hand-finished gold and silver tones layers organic design over geometric tile backdrop. Open, glass panel all-tile shower with 48x48" window (glass frosted after photos were taken). Shower pan tile pattern matches 3D tile pattern. Arched medicine cabinet from West Elm. Separate toilet room with sound dampening built-in wall treatment for enhanced privacy. Frosted glass doors throughout. Vent fan with integrated heat option. Tall storage cabinet for additional space to store body care products and other bathroom essentials. Original bathroom plumbed for two sinks, but current homeowner has only one user for this bathroom, so we capped one side, which can easily be reopened in future if homeowner wants to return to a double-sink setup. Our client chose clean lines, pops of color and warm tone cabinetry to create this stunning modern master bathroom in Pennington, NJ. Linear large format porcelain floor tiles in midnight blue compliment the blue 1"x2" glass mosaic accent tiles throughout, creating a dramatic pop of color against the neutral pale grays and whites. Maple wood honey finish vanities with eternal suede quartz countertops bring in the warmth. Brushed nickel hardware throughout.

A dated pool house bath at a historic Winter Park home had a remodel to add charm and warmth that it desperately needed.

This project is a good example of what can be done with a little refresh. Sometimes parts of your space work well and parts don’t, so a full gut and replace might not make sense. That was the case here. After living with it for a decade or so realized they would really prefer two sinks in the vanity. Since there were two windows in the bathroom, we decided to eliminate the window to the left of the current vanity and replace with it with a longer run of cabinets. The other window is to the right of the vanity let’s in beautiful morning light. The window we removed was a northern exposure and its location under an eave didn’t allow for much light, so it was the perfect solution! In addition to the new vanity, we also changed out the countertop, added new mirrors and lighting, and changed out the tile floor to a larger hex with fewer grout lines. This adds a brighter more modern look while still maintaining the vintage feel of the room. The shower was in great shape, so we left that as is except for swapping out the shower floor tile to match the main floor and adding a more updated decorative mosaic tile. We added a new toilet and for a bit of luxury a heated towel bar. Our clients relocated to Ann Arbor and struggled to find an open layout home that was fully functional for their family. We worked to create a modern inspired home with convenient features and beautiful finishes. This 4,500 square foot home includes 6 bedrooms, and 5.5 baths. In addition to that, there is a 2,000 square feet beautifully finished basement. It has a semi-open layout with clean lines to adjacent spaces, and provides optimum entertaining for both adults and kids. The interior and exterior of the home has a combination of modern and transitional styles with contrasting finishes mixed with warm wood tones and geometric patterns.

The master bedroom suite exudes elegance and functionality with a spacious walk-in closet boasting versatile storage solutions. The bedroom itself boasts a striking full-wall headboard crafted from painted black beadboard, complemented by aged oak flooring and adjacent black matte tile in the bath and closet areas. Custom nightstands on either side of the bed provide convenience, illuminated by industrial rope pendants overhead. The master bath showcases an industrial aesthetic with white subway tile, aged oak cabinetry, and a luxurious walk-in shower. Black plumbing fixtures and hardware add a sophisticated touch, completing this harmoniously designed and well-appointed master suite.
