Builder: Falcon Custom Homes Interior Designer: Mary Burns - Gallery Photographer: Mike Buck A perfectly proportioned story and a half cottage, the Farfield is full of traditional details and charm. The front is composed of matching board and batten gables flanking a covered porch featuring square columns with pegged capitols. A tour of the rear façade reveals an asymmetrical elevation with a tall living room gable anchoring the right and a low retractable-screened porch to the left. Inside, the front foyer opens up to a wide staircase clad in horizontal boards for a more modern feel. To the left, and through a short hall, is a study with private access to the main levels public bathroom. Further back a corridor, framed on one side by the living rooms stone fireplace, connects the master suite to the rest of the house. Entrance to the living room can be gained through a pair of openings flanking the stone fireplace, or via the open concept kitchen/dining room. Neutral grey cabinets featuring a modern take on a recessed panel look, line the perimeter of the kitchen, framing the elongated kitchen island. Twelve leather wrapped chairs provide enough seating for a large family, or gathering of friends. Anchoring the rear of the main level is the screened in porch framed by square columns that match the style of those found at the front porch. Upstairs, there are a total of four separate sleeping chambers. The two bedrooms above the master suite share a bathroom, while the third bedroom to the rear features its own en suite. The fourth is a large bunkroom above the homes two-stall garage large enough to host an abundance of guests.

Our clients hired us to completely renovate and furnish their PEI home — and the results were transformative. Inspired by their natural views and love of entertaining, each space in this PEI home is distinctly original yet part of the collective whole. We used color, patterns, and texture to invite personality into every room: the fish scale tile backsplash mosaic in the kitchen, the custom lighting installation in the dining room, the unique wallpapers in the pantry, powder room and mudroom, and the gorgeous natural stone surfaces in the primary bathroom and family room. We also hand-designed several features in every room, from custom furnishings to storage benches and shelving to unique honeycomb-shaped bar shelves in the basement lounge. The result is a home designed for relaxing, gathering, and enjoying the simple life as a couple.

The soothing earthtones of this bathroom blend seamlessly with the birdseye maple vanity and black marble countertop. Colour variations in this Mannington-Patchwork, Old Tapestry tile add warmth and colour. A vintage white, cast iron tub with a ceiling hung custom shower curtain creates a conversation piece. Ribbon lighting was mounted on the underside of the vanity, adding a touch of surprise in the evening hours. A big thanks to our customers for sending along this picture of their amazing bathroom! This design / build project in Manhattan Beach, CA. included both a Powder Room and a Master Bathroom. The homeowners are recent empty nesters looking to upgrade the spaces for themselves. The Powder Room now features a white Rocface Eurostone countertop and grass cloth wall covering accented by wainscoting. The floor is porcelain tile and the faucet is Brizo. The cabinetry was custom made for this project to ensure that the space felt natural and refined. Even the ceiling of this relatively small space features beautiful molding detail. The Master Bathroom keeps a similar foot print to its predecessor but with updated style and materials. The shower now features a pebble floor and the bathtub has tile surround. The floating vanity makes the space feel larger without sacrificing storage space. The frosted glass on the water closet allow for privacy without darkening the space. The homeowners favorite feature of the space may be the shade over the bathtub which they are able to raise or lower via remote control.
