After being vacant for years, this property needed extensive repairs and system updates to accommodate the young family who would be making it their home. The existing mid-century modern architecture drove the design, and finding ways to open up the floorplan towards the sweeping views of the boulevard was a priority. Custom white oak cabinetry was created for several spaces, and new architectural details were added throughout the interior. In a Brookline home, the upstairs hall bath is renovated to reflect the Parisian inspiration the homeowners loved. A black custom vanity and elegant stone countertop with wall-mounted fixtures is surrounded by mirrors on three walls. Graceful black and white marble tile, wainscoting on the walls, and marble tile in the shower are among the features. These marble mosaics are so lovely to be in the same room as. Immediately you feel a sense of serenity. I like to think of them as fish scales. My client has a koi pond visible on exiting the bathroom. This was a renovation project. We removed the existing early '90s vanity, mirror and flour light fitting and all the plumbing fixtures. We than tiled the wall and put the new fixtures and fittings back. I love the combination of the black, white and timber with the soft greens of the mosaics & of course the odd house plant!

Strict and concise design with minimal decor and necessary plumbing set - ideal for a small bathroom. Speaking of about the color of the decoration, the classical marble fits perfectly with the wood. A dark floor against the background of light walls creates a sense of the shape of space. The toilet and sink are wall-hung and are white. This type of plumbing has its advantages; it is visually lighter and does not take up extra space. Under the sink, you can see a shelf for storing towels. The niche above the built-in toilet is also very advantageous for use due to its compactness. Frameless glass shower doors create a spacious feel. In keeping with the age of the house, circa 1920, an art deco inspired bathroom was installed in classic black and white. Brass and black fixtures add warmth, as does the metallic ceiling. Reeded glass accents are another nod to the era, as is the hex marble floor. A custom bench and niche were installed, working around the old bones of the house. A new window was installed, widening the view, but high enough to provide privacy. Board and batten provide interest and texture to the bold black walls.

The indigo vanity and its brass hardware stand in perfect harmony with the mirror, which elegantly reflects the marble shower.

This en-suite bathroom is all about fun. We opted for a monochrome style to contrast with the colourful guest bedroom. We sourced geometric tiles that make blur the edges of the space and bring a contemporary feel to the space.

Mixing contemporary style with traditional architectural features, allowed us to put a fresh new face, while keeping the familiar warm comforts. Multiple conversation areas that are cozy and intimate break up the vast open floor plan, allowing the homeowners to enjoy intimate gatherings or host grand events. Matching white conversation couches were used in the living room to section the large space without closing it off. A wet bar was built in the corner of the living room with custom glass cabinetry and leather bar stools. Carrera marble was used throughout to coordinate with the traditional architectural features. And, a mixture of metallics were used to add a touch of modern glam.
