This bathroom had to serve the needs of teenage twin sisters. The ceiling height in the basement was extremely low and the alcove where the existing vanity sat was reduced in depth so that the cabinetry & countertop had to be sized perfectly. (See before Photos)The previous owner's had installed a custom shower and the homeowners liked the flooring and the shower itself. Keeping the tile work in place and working with the color palette provided a big savings. Now, this charming space provides all the storage needed for two teenage girls.

The lower level is primarily for the children so an easy solution was to paint the existing antique washstand a fun color. Walls are painted in contrasting tangerine to flow with the rest of the home. Sherwin Williams #6347 Chrysanthemum paint

Go bold or go home! We often find that people are afraid to commit to a bold color...even where paint is concerned. Not this time! We suggested a KAPOW of orange glass tile as the accent, and now we can't imagine this room without it! We gutted the standard, apartment style tub with the directive - "the bigger the better" for the new shower. And isn't the marble tile just gorgeous!!!! Well it's actually a porcelain - so no sealing required and no worries of etching the surface. I used to be such a snob about using "faux" materials, but many companies have really upped their game in this department, and the maintenance (or lack thereof) and the cost just can't be beat. The master bath was pulled together with a soft and bright roman shade fabric that brought in the colors from painted furniture in the room and the stained glass panels.

The honey toned bathroom is an homage to bees and butterflies in this pollinator suite, a walk-in work of art for finding peace and beauty. Moth handles add warmth and whimsy to a custom vanity and matching mirror made in collaboration with a local artisan using locally salvaged sycamore. The artisan made sink is forged from hand hammered recycled copper. Vintage Limburg sconces with a pattern reminiscent of honeycombs gives off a golden glow over textured ceramic tiles. The overhead lighting also nods to honeycombs, leading to an inviting copper hued shower. The custom honeycomb tiles were made with Giallo Sienna marble, and inlaid with decorative bees. Copper tiles line a magical, shimmery shower space with a honey glow. Oil rubbed bronze accessories hold soaps and plantlife.

New Moroccan Villa on the Santa Barbara Riviera, overlooking the Pacific ocean and the city. In this terra cotta and deep blue home, we used natural stone mosaics and glass mosaics, along with custom carved stone columns. Every room is colorful with deep, rich colors. In the master bath we used blue stone mosaics on the groin vaulted ceiling of the shower. All the lighting was designed and made in Marrakesh, as were many furniture pieces. The entry black and white columns are also imported from Morocco. We also designed the carved doors and had them made in Marrakesh. Cabinetry doors we designed were carved in Canada. The carved plaster molding were made especially for us, and all was shipped in a large container (just before covid-19 hit the shipping world!) Thank you to our wonderful craftsman and enthusiastic vendors! Project designed by Maraya Interior Design. From their beautiful resort town of Ojai, they serve clients in Montecito, Hope Ranch, Santa Ynez, Malibu and Calabasas, across the tri-county area of Santa Barbara, Ventura and Los Angeles, south to Hidden Hills and Calabasas.
