Renovation and restoration of a classic Eastlake row house in San Francisco. The historic façade was the only original element of the architecture that remained, the interiors having been gutted during successive remodels over years. In partnership with Angela Free Interior Design, we designed elegant interiors within a new envelope that restored the lost architecture of its former Victorian grandeur. Artisanal craftspeople were employed to recreate the complexity and beauty of a bygone era. The result was a complimentary blending of modern living within an architecturally significant interior.

This cozy lake cottage skillfully incorporates a number of features that would normally be restricted to a larger home design. A glance of the exterior reveals a simple story and a half gable running the length of the home, enveloping the majority of the interior spaces. To the rear, a pair of gables with copper roofing flanks a covered dining area that connects to a screened porch. Inside, a linear foyer reveals a generous staircase with cascading landing. Further back, a centrally placed kitchen is connected to all of the other main level entertaining spaces through expansive cased openings. A private study serves as the perfect buffer between the homes master suite and living room. Despite its small footprint, the master suite manages to incorporate several closets, built-ins, and adjacent master bath complete with a soaker tub flanked by separate enclosures for shower and water closet. Upstairs, a generous double vanity bathroom is shared by a bunkroom, exercise space, and private bedroom. The bunkroom is configured to provide sleeping accommodations for up to 4 people. The rear facing exercise has great views of the rear yard through a set of windows that overlook the copper roof of the screened porch below. Behind this gorgeous walnut face, every inch of this vanity is packed with customer-specific storage. This small bath was in desperate need of organizational storage and we were able to check every box on our customer’s wish list. Hidden toe kick drawers and double-duty drawer fronts hide extra storage yet maintain elegant simplicity.

In this century home we opened up the space and moved the toilet area to create a larger tiled shower. The vanity installed is Waypoint LivingSpaces 650F Cherry Java with a toilet topper cabinet. The countertop, shower curb and shower seat is Eternia Quartz in Edmonton color. A Kohler Fairfax collection in oil rubbed bronze includes the faucet, towel bar, towel holder, toilet paper holder, and grab bars. The toilet is Kohler Cimmarron comfort height in white. In the shower, the floor and partial shower tile is 12x12 Slaty, multi-color. On the floor is Slaty 2x2 mosaic multi-color tile. And on the partial walls is 3x12 vintage subway tile.

Wow! The primary bath in this Alexandria condo turned out beautifully. A complete pull and replace remodel included installing new vanity cabinetry with plenty of storage, new granite counters, lighting, and medicine cabinets. The separate toilet and bathing area has a new tub with tile shower surround, toiletry niches, all new plumbing fixtures, grab bars, and a sliding glass shower door.
