A perfect mix of blue hues and clean white tile make this bathroom a retreat! The addition of the crane wallpaper tied the space together and made this room unique.

The blue painted door echoes the vanity, while a creatively utilized cavity offers additional storage.

This new build architectural gem required a sensitive approach to balance the strong modernist language with the personal, emotive feel desired by the clients. Taking inspiration from the California MCM aesthetic, we added bold colour blocking, interesting textiles and patterns, and eclectic lighting to soften the glazing, crisp detailing and linear forms. With a focus on juxtaposition and contrast, we played with the ‘mix’; utilising a blend of new & vintage pieces, differing shapes & textures, and touches of whimsy for a lived in feel.

This home is a modern farmhouse on the outside with an open-concept floor plan and nautical/midcentury influence on the inside! From top to bottom, this home was completely customized for the family of four with five bedrooms and 3-1/2 bathrooms spread over three levels of 3,998 sq. ft. This home is functional and utilizes the space wisely without feeling cramped. Some of the details that should be highlighted in this home include the 5” quartersawn oak floors, detailed millwork including ceiling beams, abundant natural lighting, and a cohesive color palate. We gave this blue-and-white Austin bathroom interesting elements through the floral floor tile and gold accents. Project designed by Sara Barney’s Austin interior design studio BANDD DESIGN. After years of renting out the house, the owners of this 1916 Craftsman were ready to make it their forever home. Both enthusiastic cooks, an updated kitchen was at the top of the list. Updating the fireplace, as well as two bathrooms in the house were also important. The homeowners passion for honoring the age of home, while also updating it, was at the forefront of our design. The end result beautifully blends the older elements with the new.
