Finding a home is not easy in a seller’s market, but when my clients discovered one—even though it needed a bit of work—in a beautiful area of the Santa Cruz Mountains, they decided to jump in. Surrounded by old-growth redwood trees and a sense of old-time history, the house’s location informed the design brief for their desired remodel work. Yet I needed to balance this with my client’s preference for clean-lined, modern style. Suffering from a previous remodel, the galley-like bathroom in the master suite was long and dank. My clients were willing to completely redesign the layout of the suite, so the bathroom became the walk-in closet. We borrowed space from the bedroom to create a new, larger master bathroom which now includes a separate tub and shower. The look of the room nods to nature with organic elements like a pebbled shower floor and vertical accent tiles of honed green slate. A custom vanity of blue weathered wood and a ceiling that recalls the look of pressed tin evoke a time long ago when people settled this mountain region. At the same time, the hardware in the room looks to the future with sleek, modular shapes in a chic matte black finish. Harmonious, serene, with personality: just what my clients wanted. The guest bath features floor to ceiling glass tile in a calming sage green, while the freestanding cabinets are a bright white. Behind the freestanding tub teak shutters open to the bathroom's private garden and outdoor shower. The walls are lava rock and the shower head is a custom stone waterfall. The teak mirrors are framed by glass pendants. The gold fixtures add a pop of glamour to the all white vanities and the soft green of the shower. The shower floor is gray pebbles to compliment the gray floor and the lava rock outside in the garden.

This narrow galley style primary bathroom was opened up by eliminating a wall between the toilet and vanity zones, enlarging the vanity counter space, and expanding the shower into dead space between the existing shower and the exterior wall. Now the space is the relaxing haven they'd hoped for for years. The warm, modern palette features soft green cabinetry, sage green ceramic tile with a high variation glaze and a fun accent tile with gold and silver tones in the shower niche that ties together the brass and brushed nickel fixtures and accessories, and a herringbone wood-look tile flooring that anchors the space with warmth. Wood accents are repeated in the softly curved mirror frame, the unique ash wood grab bars, and the bench in the shower. Quartz counters and shower elements are easy to mantain and provide a neutral break in the palette. The sliding shower door system allows for easy access without a door swing bumping into the toilet seat. The closet across from the vanity was updated with a pocket door, eliminating the previous space stealing small swinging doors. Storage features include a pull out hamper for quick sorting of dirty laundry and a tall cabinet on the counter that provides storage at an easy to grab height.

An Ensuite Bathroom showcases a beautiful green vanitry color, topped with Fantasy Brown Marble and complimented by Chrome plumbing fixtures, framed mirrors, cabinet hardware and lighting.

Sea Pearl Quartzite slabs were used on an entire wall and around the vanity and served as this ethereal palette inspiration. Client's dream of having a gorgeous, relaxing bathroom with lots of light and natural elements while being low maintenance and within her budget were the requirements. We relocated the shower to the opposite side of the vanity with a sleek shower surround. The existing skylight is free to flood the space with natural light.

Primary bathroom remodel in Medford, MA. Maple stain cabinetry, with frameless construction, shaker door with reverse raised panel. Porcelain black and white mosaic floor tiles, quartz countertop, green subway tile in shower, Newport Brass fixtures in Satin Brass, Toto sink, Toto toilet, Runtal towel warmer, Robern medicine cabinet, and Rejuvenation light fixtures and hardware.

This ensuite has been transformed into a luxurious and functional space that perfectly complemented her bedroom. The muted green with a peachy pink effect like onyx for the tile from Artisan of Devizes added a beautiful touch of warmth and texture, while the accents of gold added a touch of glamour. The traditional vanity with contemporary finishes created a unique and stylish look, and the reeded effect glass shower screen provided a sleek and modern touch.
