Located within a circa 1900 Victorian home in the historic Capitol Hill neighborhood of Washington DC, this elegantly renovated bathroom offers a soothing respite for guests. Features include a furniture style vanity, coordinating medicine cabinet from Rejuvenation, a custom corner shower with diamond patterned tiles, and a clawfoot tub situated under niches clad in waterjet marble and glass mosaics.

By reconfiguring the space we were able to create a powder room which is an asset to any home. Three dimensional chevron mosaic tiles made for a beautiful textured backdrop to the elegant freestanding contemporary vanity.

This project was a joy to work on, as we married our firm’s modern design aesthetic with the client’s more traditional and rustic taste. We gave new life to all three bathrooms in her home, making better use of the space in the powder bathroom, optimizing the layout for a brother & sister to share a hall bath, and updating the primary bathroom with a large curbless walk-in shower and luxurious clawfoot tub. Though each bathroom has its own personality, we kept the palette cohesive throughout all three.

The existing bathroom and laundry room were the typical early 2000’s era décor that you would expect in the area. The client came to us with a list of things that they wanted to accomplish in the various spaces. The master bathroom features new cabinetry with custom elements provided by Palm Harbor Cabinets. A free standing bathtub. New frameless glass shower. Custom tile that was provided by Pro Source Port Richey. New lighting and wainscoting finish off the look. In the master bathroom, we took the same steps and updated all of the tile, cabinetry, lighting, and trim as well. The laundry room was finished off with new cabinets, shelving, and custom tile work to give the space a dramatic feel.
