The guest bedroom in our Broad Walk family home features a palette of deep navy and amber with wall lights by Heathfield in bronze and a large circular Drift mirror by Ecco Trading centered to the wall. Fur throws adorn the bed and provide a sense of opulence. Photography by Richard Waite

Currently living overseas, the owners of this stunning Grade II Listed stone cottage in the heart of the North York Moors set me the brief of designing the interiors. Renovated to a very high standard by the previous owner and a totally blank canvas, the brief was to create contemporary warm and welcoming interiors in keeping with the building’s history. To be used as a holiday let in the short term, the interiors needed to be high quality and comfortable for guests whilst at the same time, fulfilling the requirements of my clients and their young family to live in upon their return to the UK.

Applying the "less is more" concept for this white-walled bedroom. Simple design allows for each piece to be seen and speak for itself. Mixing patterns can be a fun way to enhance a room through design! Ryann Ford Photography

Ania Omski-Talwar Location: Lincoln Park, Chicago, IL, USA At 166 sq ft, the size of the living/sleeping area in this studio apartment was quite challenging. We made it work by taking careful dimensions of the space as well as every piece of furniture before purchasing. Even the height of the printer mattered as it had to fit between the filing cabinet and the desk. The busy student who lives here had two primary needs: sleeping and studying. Upon completion we felt we met those needs quite well. https://www.houzz.com/ideabooks/76468333/list/room-of-the-day-quick-turnaround-for-a-studio-apartment Mike Kaskel Photo
