This custom arched top window seat is tucked into the Straw Bale wall, the wall's thickness gives the window seat a good depth. A curve fronted corner Kiva Fireplace makes a cozy spot on a chilly winters evening. The wood Vigas framing the window seat and in the ceiling above complete the room.
Dona Rosene Interiors
The client's request was to continue the spa-like environment Dona Rosene Interiors had just completed in the adjacent master bathroom (see Ethereal Bath) into the Master Bedroom. An elegant, antique silver finished chandelier replaced the ceiling fan. An upholstered headboard & tailored bed-skirt in the ethereal gray green linen compliments the geometric fabric used on the pillows & drapery panels framing the shutters and hanging from a bronze rod. The fixed panels soften the wall of French windows and door as well as creating the illusion of height. A cozy seating area warms up to the fireplace and TV.Photos by Michael Hunter.

Marvin
Remodeling this lakeside home was a sentimental task. The property was enjoyed by the homeowner for a life’s worth of summer vacations, so tremendous care and consideration were taken to maintain the spirit of the old cottage, with a design vision for the future. Marvin windows allowed the finished home to maintain a certain period feeling both indoors and out. On the southeasterly corner, the newly opened tree views provide substantial passive solar gains in the winter, while reducing the need for extra cooling in the summer. The project became a major success, for it received an AIA New Hampshire Chapter for the 2015 Annual Excellence in Design Merit Award.. And, most important, the homeowner felt that the finished product was a “lifelong dream come true.”
