Engaged by the client to update this 1970's architecturally designed waterfront home by Frank Cavalier, we refreshed the interiors whilst highlighting the existing features such as the Queensland Rosewood timber ceilings.
The concept presented was a clean, industrial style interior and exterior lift, collaborating the existing Japanese and Mid Century hints of architecture and design.
A project we thoroughly enjoyed from start to finish, we hope you do too.

Sitting Pretty Redesign
Window and door combination in bay window area of this Master presented a tricky challenge for window treatments. Dressing the exterior patio door identically to the adjacent windows ties them in for a cohesive look. Neutral linen panels add drama with classic and timeless appeal.
Pu'uwai Design & Construction
This spacious master suite was inspired by the design of a Balinese villa. It's indoor-outdoor design was created by incorporating pocketing glass doors along two walls so that a whole corner of the room opens up to the back lawn. The vaulted ceiling connects the master bath, while a slat wall frames the closet and creates a feature wall for the master bed. The walls are white, the floors are gray porcelain, the slat wall and custom nightstands are teak, while the four poster bed is draped in mosquito netting and piled high with white bedding. The rug is jute. The blue-green accents were inspired by the custom throw pillows on the bed and the landscape painting by local artist Pepe depicting traditional canoes along the shoreline.

An oversized storage/guest room became a suite for children to entertain friends as well as a place to sleep and study. Ordinary closet doors were replaced with old doors covered with chalkboard paint for messages and memos sliding on a heavy metal track. An old metal work bench base was updated with a new top to house three TV’s for video gaming. A large sectional gives generous seating for his friends when playing games or just relaxing.
Rustic sconces on either side of the bed create task lighting for studying. A fun dresser that mimics an old trunk provides storage. The space is topped off with accessories indigenous of a boy’s space.
