A bright bathroom remodel and refurbishment. The clients wanted a lot of storage, a good size bath and a walk in wet room shower which we delivered. Their love of blue was noted and we accented it with yellow, teak furniture and funky black tapware

A half bath near the front entry is expanded by roofing over an existing open air light well. The modern vanity with integral sink fits perfectly into this newly gained space. Directly above is a deep chute, created by refinishing the walls of the light well, and crowned with a skylight 2 story high on the roof. After a water leak had gone undetected, these homeowners had to undergo a primary bathroom remodel in their Mid-Century Modern home. Not being fans of the traditional style, we set out to create a space that would fit within the home's architecture while still resonating with the homeowner's taste. Simple, soft blue vanities, topped with white quartz, allow the clean, polished nickel fixtures to shine. Large format porcelain tile was used on the shower walls, while a smaller hex-tile added subtle interest on the shower floor. The freestanding bathtub and tub filler feel like a quiet luxury nestled by the window, overlooking nature. The original, natural wood ceiling was retained, inspiring the muted, calm color palette.

The interior of the home is immediately welcoming with the anterior of the home clad in full-height windows, beckoning you into the home with views and light. The open floor plan leads you into the family room, adjoined by the dining room and in-line kitchen. A balcony is immediately off the dining area, providing a quick escape to the outdoor refuge of Whitefish. Glo’s A5 double pane windows were used to create breathtaking views that are the crown jewels of the home’s design. Furthermore, the full height curtain wall windows and 12’ lift and slide doors provide views as well as thermal performance. The argon-filled glazing, multiple air seals, and larger thermal break make these aluminum windows durable and long-lasting.

Nestled in the redwoods, a short walk from downtown, this home embraces both it’s proximity to town life and nature. Mid-century modern detailing and a minimalist California vibe come together in this special place.
