This 5,600 sq ft. custom home is a blend of industrial and organic design elements, with a color palette of grey, black, and hints of metallics. It’s a departure from the traditional French country esthetic of the neighborhood. Especially, the custom game room bar. The homeowners wanted a fun ‘industrial’ space that was far different from any other home bar they had seen before. Through several sketches, the bar design was conceptualized by senior designer, Ayca Stiffel and brought to life by two talented artisans: Alberto Bonomi and Jim Farris. It features metalwork on the foot bar, bar front, and frame all clad in Corten Steel and a beautiful walnut counter with a live edge top. The sliding doors are constructed from raw steel with brass wire mesh inserts and glide over open metal shelving for customizable storage space. Matte black finishes and brass mesh accents pair with soapstone countertops, leather barstools, brick, and glass. Porcelain floor tiles are placed in a geometric design to anchor the bar area within the game room space. Every element is unique and tailored to our client’s personal style; creating a space that is both edgy, sophisticated, and welcoming.

Purchased as a fixer-upper, this 1998 home underwent significant aesthetic updates to modernize its amazing bones. The interior had to live up to the coveted 1/2 acre wooded lot that sprawls with landscaping and amenities. In addition to the typical paint, tile, and lighting updates, the kitchen was completely reworked to lighten and brighten an otherwise dark room. The staircase was reinvented to boast an iron railing and updated designer carpeting. Traditionally planned rooms were reimagined to suit the needs of the family, i.e. the dining room is actually located in the intended living room space and the piano room Is in the intended dining room area. The live edge table is the couple’s main brag as they entertain and feature their vast wine collection while admiring the beautiful outdoors. Now, each room feels like “home” to this family.

Free Float is a pool house that continues UP's obsession with contextual contradiction. Located on a three acre estate in Sands Point NY, the modern pool house is juxtaposed against the existing traditional home. Using structural gymnastics, a column-free, simple shading area was created to protect occupants from the summer sun while still allowing the structure to feel light and open, maintaining views of the Long Island Sound and surrounding beaches. The major objective of this home was to craft something entirely unique; based on our client’s international travels, and tailored to their ideal lifestyle. Every detail, selection and method was individual to this project. The design included personal touches like a dog shower for their Great Dane, a bar downstairs to entertain, and a TV tucked away in the den instead of on display in the living room. Great design doesn’t just happen. It’s a product of work, thought and exploration. For our clients, they looked to hotels they love in New York and Croatia, Danish design, and buildings that are architecturally artistic and ideal for displaying art. Our part was to take these ideas and actually build them. Every door knob, hinge, material, color, etc. was meticulously researched and crafted. Most of the selections are custom built either by us, or by hired craftsman.

This beverage center is located adjacent to the kitchen and joint living area composed of greys, whites and blue accents. Our main focus was to create a space that would grab people’s attention, and be a feature of the kitchen. The cabinet color is a rich blue (amalfi) that creates a moody, elegant, and sleek atmosphere for the perfect cocktail hour. This client is one who is not afraid to add sparkle, use fun patterns, and design with bold colors. For that added fun design we utilized glass Vihara tile in a iridescent finish along the back wall and behind the floating shelves. The cabinets with glass doors also have a wood mullion for an added accent. This gave our client a space to feature his beautiful collection of specialty glassware. The quilted hardware in a polished chrome finish adds that extra sparkle element to the design. This design maximizes storage space with a lazy susan in the corner, and pull-out cabinet organizers for beverages, spirits, and utensils.
