Turning into the backyard, a two-tiered pergola and social space make for a grand arrival. Scroll down to the first "before" photo for a peek at what it looked like when we first did our site inventory in the snow. Design by John Algozzini and Kevin Manning.
LandCrafters, LLC
The raked garden has been a area for our client to dabble with various raking designs in the gravel.
Novotny Landscaping LLC
Novotny Landscaping LLC installed this retaining wall to replace a failing timber wall. Natural stone Chilton outcroppings were used to make a gentle transition for my customers. Compliments to Sally Michalko the home owner for all these pictures she took while we worked on the project.

Photos taken just after installation, there are more recent photos in this project. The front areas of this landscape were transformed from a tired, water thirsty lawn into a contemporary setting with dramatic concrete pavers leading to the home's entrance and a new driveway using large concrete slabs with small black pebbles set in resin. Plants for sun and part shade complete this project, just completed in February 2014. The back areas of this transformation are in a separate project: Modern Water-Side Landscape Remodel http://www.houzz.com/projects/456093/Modern-Water-Side-Landscape-Remodel---Lawn-Replaced--Novato--CA

A stream bed is integrated into a pool and landscape where it appears the stream flows from the pool to the lake below, connecting all the outdoor living areas together. A soothing sound from the flowing water surrounds the meandering stone pathway leading down to the lake.

Koi pond in between decks. Pergola and decking are redwood. Concrete pillars under the steps for support. There are ample space in between the supporting pillars for koi fish to swim by, provides cover from sunlight and possible predators. Koi pond filtration is located under the wood deck, hidden from sight. The water fall is also a biological filtration (bakki shower). Pond water volume is 5500 gallon. Artificial grass and draught resistant plants were used in this yard.
