1916 Bungalow in Portland Oregon. This kitchen had been remodeled multiple times throughout the years and was in dire need of a fresh remodel. The home owners now have a time period appropriate style kitchen with modern creature comforts every cook will love.

Traditional Home’s Before & After Kitchen

This “before” Manhattan kitchen was featured in Traditional Home in 1992 having traditional cherry cabinets and polished-brass hardware. Twenty-three years later it was featured again, having been redesigned by Bilotta designer RitaLuisa Garces, this time as a less ornate space, a more streamlined, cleaner look that is popular today. Rita reconfigured the kitchen using the same space but with a more practical flow and added light. The new “after” kitchen features recessed panel Rutt Handcrafted Cabinetry in a blue finish with materials that have reflective qualities. These materials consist of glass mosaic tile backsplash from Artistic Tile, a Bridge faucet in polished nickel from Barber Wilsons & Co, Franke stainless-steel sink, porcelain floor tiles with a bronze glaze and polished blue granite countertops. When the kitchen was reconfigured they moved the eating niche and added a tinted mirror backsplash to reflect the light as well. A black and white contemporary kitchen in a new build home.

An architecturally designed home in rural Karaka with a strong injection of personality and modernity. Client Brief: The homeowners called for a kitchen to work harmoniously with the crisp and modern interior throughout the home. An oversized barn door creates a bold impact in the room and meant any kitchen design had to hold its own against this striking feature. Function-wise, the space had to be hard wearing and innovative for a family who love to entertain. The kitchen has mirrored the homeowners penchant for strong vertical styling on the exterior of the home by applying exacting clean lines and precise workmanship throughout. Using premium materials and a restricted colour palette, the result is a kitchen that connects with the overall aesthetic of the home and provides its homeowners with an indulgent yet highly practical space.

Contemporary Ranch Reno

This family of 5 was quickly out-growing their 1,220sf ranch home on a beautiful corner lot. Rather than adding a 2nd floor, the decision was made to extend the existing ranch plan into the back yard, adding a new 2-car garage below the new space - for a new total of 2,520sf. With a previous addition of a 1-car garage and a small kitchen removed, a large addition was added for Master Bedroom Suite, a 4th bedroom, hall bath, and a completely remodeled living, dining and new Kitchen, open to large new Family Room. The new lower level includes the new Garage and Mudroom. The existing fireplace and chimney remain - with beautifully exposed brick. The homeowners love contemporary design, and finished the home with a gorgeous mix of color, pattern and materials. The project was completed in 2011. Unfortunately, 2 years later, they suffered a massive house fire. The house was then rebuilt again, using the same plans and finishes as the original build, adding only a secondary laundry closet on the main level.

The Kensington blue kitchen was individually designed and hand made by Tim Wood Ltd. This light and airy contemporary kitchen features Carrara marble worktops and a large central island with a large double French farmhouse sink. One side of the island features a bar area for high stools. The kitchen and its design flow through to the utility room which also has a high microwave oven. This room can be shut off by means of a hidden recessed sliding door.
