How do you create a formal space and still make it inviting and not all about the television? This question was our challenge here. And deciding to build a custom tile wall and asymmetrical built-ins while recessing the t.v. did just the trick!

A classic, elegant master suite for the husband and wife, and a fun, sophisticated entertainment space for their family -- it was a dream project!
To turn the master suite into a luxury retreat for two young executives, we mixed rich textures with a playful, yet regal color palette of purples, grays, yellows and ivories.
For fun family gatherings, where both children and adults are encouraged to play, I envisioned a handsome billiard room and bar, inspired by the husband’s favorite pub.

Wild and crazy colors by the color experts! Us! We love, love love color! deep rich colorful spaces, now sadly burned to the ground by the famous California fires. At least we have these photos! We will be designing and rebuilding these homes again for the same clients. We love our clients. All of them!
Many of these rooms were designed to mimic the fun of the Winn Resort in Las Vegas, as our jet setting clients wanted to stay home with their children, but still have places to play. Marble and granite mosaic floors, vessel sinks, wall faucets, all in sumptuous colors. Media room, bowling, vestibule, powder rooms and closet.
Designed by Maraya Interior Design. From their beautiful resort town of Ojai, they serve clients in Montecito, Hope Ranch, Malibu, Westlake and Calabasas, across the tri-county areas of Santa Barbara, Ventura and Los Angeles, south to Hidden Hills- north through Solvang and more.

URBAN OPERATIONS
Designed and constructed by Los Angeles architect, John Southern and his firm Urban Operations, the Slice and Fold House is a contemporary hillside home in the cosmopolitan neighborhood of Highland Park. Nestling into its steep hillside site, the house steps gracefully up the sloping topography, and provides outdoor space for every room without additional sitework. The first floor is conceived as an open plan, and features strategically located light-wells that flood the home with sunlight from above. On the second floor, each bedroom has access to outdoor space, decks and an at-grade patio, which opens onto a landscaped backyard. The home also features a roof deck inspired by Le Corbusier’s early villas, and where one can see Griffith Park and the San Gabriel Mountains in the distance.

A view of the den from the kitchen. We opted to go with a deep, moody blue wall color to offset the light built-in cabinets in this space and the pale grey cabinets in the kitchen space.

This Victorian home received a full renovation to restore its original glory. We modernized the entire space, yet incorporated thoughtful, traditional details.

A pair of lounge chairs teamed with a side table (made of granite and metal) that serve well for a candid chat, a quiet afternoon spent reading a book or just listening to some good music.
