Creating access to a new outdoor balcony, architect Mary Cerrone replaced the window with a full-pane glass door. The challenge of a narrow thoroughfare was overcome by implementing a sliding screen, which when opened slides into a pocket behind the refrigerator. By placing a focal point of bright color in the doorway, the room gains a feeling of greater depth, while the dying process of the wood mirrors that of the cabinetry. The Sales Center is located at the Gallery of Homes at The Pinehills in Plymouth, MA. Crisply detailed with wood shingles and clapboard siding, this home speaks to the New England vernacular. The roof was clad with a sustainable rubber product (recycled automobile tires!) to mimic the look of a slate roof. Copper gutters and downspouts add refinement to the material palate. After the Sales Center was constructed, the "model home" was added to the adjacent property (also designed by SMOOK Architecture). Upon completion of the "model home," the Sales Center was converted into a two bedroom “in-law suite,” bringing the combined total area to approximately 5,000 SF. The two buildings are connected by a bridge. Check out the adjacent property in our Houzz portfolio, "Model House."

All custom made cabinetry that was color matched to the entire suite of GE Cafe matte white appliances paired with champagne bronze hardware that coordinates beautifully with the Delta faucet and cabinet / drawer hardware. The counter surfaces are Artic White quartz with custom hand painted clay tiles for the entire range wall with custom floating shelves and backsplash. We used my favorite farrow & ball Babouche 223 (yellow) paint for the island and Sherwin Williams 7036 Accessible Beige on the walls. Hanging over the island is a pair of glazed clay pots that I customized into light pendants. We also replaced the builder grade hollow core back door with a custom designed iron and glass security door. The barstools were a fabulous find on Craigslist that we became mixologists with a selection of transparent stains to come up with the perfect shade of teal and we installed brand new bamboo flooring! This was such a fun project to do, even amidst Covid with all that the pandemic delayed, and a much needed burst of cheer as a daily result.

BUNGALOW KITCHEN
BUNGALOW KITCHEN

Kitchen in a 1926 bungalow, done to my client's brief that it should look 'original' to the house. The three 'jewels' of the kitchen are the immaculately restored 1928 Wedgwood high-oven stove, the SubZero refrigerator/freezer designed to look like an old-fashioned ice box, and the island referencing a farmhouse table with pie-save cabinet underneath, done in ebonized oak and painted bead-board. The red Marmoleum floor has double inlaid borders, the counters are honed black granite, and the walls, cabinets, and trim are all painted a soft ocher-based cream-colour taken from a 1926 DutchBoy paint deck. Virtually everything is custom, save the sink, faucets, and pulls, done to my original designs. The Bosch dishwasher, washer, and dryer are all hidden in the cabinetry. This original Exton Station townhomes kitchen was in serious need of an update. We used Fabuwood cabinetry in the fusion Blanc door style for a brighter feel. The flooring throughout the kitchen foyer and powder room was replaced with Mannington’s Adura Athena luxury vinyl tiles. Vinyl tiles are a great choice for durability, warmer and soft under foot feel, as well as being less expensive and faster to install. New Santa Cecilya Gold granite countertop were installed with an under mount stainless steel sink. The simple subway tile backsplash in Ocean sand dollar compliments everything. New Led ceiling and under cabinetry lighting was installed and makes the space. New lighting is one of the most important items in any remodeling project. This new kitchen is now fresh and bright and a totally new space and all for under $ 34K.
