Our client’s wanted classically styled gardens, built upon a semi-formal framework. They requested level spaces for the kids to play on and a swimming pool, which was to be the hero of the project. The result speaks for itself.
This large garden is made up of different ‘pockets’ – a vegetable garden, formal front garden, large grassed area for the kids to play, a pool area, a patio for entertaining and a small relaxation garden that houses a stunning water feature.
Our planting schedule included Viburnum, Japanese Box Hedging, Hydrangea’s, Gardenia’s and Ornamental Pear trees.
The result was a stunning semi-formal classic garden that adheres to a young families growing needs.

The meandering pathway to the lower patio is flanked with pea-gravel areas for native plantings. Water will also travel down hill primarily on the pavers, and will be prone to sink in the areas that are planted. As a design + build company, our team works together insure drainage aspects of a project are fully integrated on site, and not just on paper!

The brief of this project was very clear and simple.
The clients wanted to transform their overgrown and non functional back yard to a usuable and practical space.
The location is in Rye, Vic. The solution was to build tiered retaining walls to stabilize the slope and create level and usuable platforms.
This proved challanging as the soil mostly contains sand, especially here on the lower end of the peninsula, which made excavating easy however difficult to retain the cut once excavated.
Therefore the retaining walls had to be constructed in stages, bottom wall to top wall, back filling and stabilizing the hill side as the next wall got erected.
The end result met all expectations of the clients and the back yard was transformed from an unusable slope to a functional and secure space.
