Just off of the master bedroom in our recently completed George to the Rescue project was a small and original bathroom. Tiny, pink, and stuck in the '60s, it was a less than ideal place for a working mom of two kids to start and end her day. We created a bright and fun, but low maintenance retreat for her behind a custom sliding barn door. We claimed an additional 2 feet for the bathroom by moving the wall and stealing a bit of space (it wasn't missed!) from the bedroom. Oversized ceramic subway tile laid to look like shiplap (shiplap! Everyone loved shiplap!) gives the now spacious shower an updated farmhouse feel. Exaggerated shower hardware (an 18" handle!), @hansgroheusa faucets (generously donated!), a pivoting rounded rectangle mirror, and a pair of articulating arm sconces all in matte black finish punctuate the space and mirror the hardware finish throughout the renovation. The elegant floral Anna French wallpaper is a surprising background for the substantial charcoal and white marble-topped vanity, and makes this a feminine space, just for a well-deserving mom.

In this beautiful walk-in, zero-entry master bathroom shower, the walls are 12x24 honed White Carrera Marble installed in a traditional subway pattern using larger format tile. The shower floor is a mosaic basket weave using Italian Carrera and the dark tiles are black Absolute Granite to give the pattern a little more detail.

A bachelor's master bath gets a shower worthy of a king. We even gave it brains. This shower features full smart touch controls with temperature and sound system, body sprays, Hansgrohe RainBrain electronic thermostat, Axor brushed and polished nickel fixtures, linear drain, and handpicked Thassos and Calcutta marble.

After- Bathroom

If cost is no object what can be more practical and stylish than a marble clad bathroom? Many companies supplying marble will let you go to the yard to select the piece. As it is a natural product mined out of the ground no two pieces are exactly alike. In this bathroom the marble veining continues across the alcove so it still looks like a large continuous slab. Bright yellow towels pop against the greys and whites of this master bath tub and shower. Large marble tiles with rich grey veining make up the walls and are accented with a single mosaic feature strip of the same material. Natural light floods the space via a leaded glass window. The same rich marble continues on in the form of 2x2 tiles creating the shower floor and ceiling. Modern polished chrome shower and tub fittings, coupled with a Thassos marble tub deck, complement the neutral grey color palette.
