The kitchen keeps with the monochromatic color scheme of the keeping room and dining room. The remodel included updating and relocating appliances, refacing cabinets, adding granite countertops, and installing a custom tempered glass “waterfall” bar to seat four. The designer commissioned an intricate marble mosaic backsplash, illuminated by dimmable LED tape lighting. Energy efficient appliances include an in-wall Gaggenau coffee maker and oven, a stainless side-by-side refrigerator and dishwasher, a six-burner gas stove topped by a custom fabricated stainless hood vent, and an industrial modern sink and hardware. The designer customized the steel and crystal chandelier over the island.

This impeccable dark grey shaker style kitchen brings a classic concept bang up to date. The hand-painted finish echoes the quality and craftsmanship. Typical shaker style open shelving is given a contemporary twist with discreet lighting to showcase gleaming copperware. This large kitchen makes the most of its footprint by incorporating a beautiful, oversized island. A gleaming, shark tooth worktop is an eye-catching contrast to the dark grey finish. The open shelf theme is continued offering additional storage and a second sink is cleverly set into the centrepiece giving the rest of the kitchen extra space for preparation and cooking.

COUNTRY HOUSE INTERIOR DESIGN PROJECT We were thrilled to be asked to provide our full interior design service for this luxury new-build country house, deep in the heart of the Lincolnshire hills. Our client approached us as soon as his offer had been accepted on the property – the year before it was due to be finished. This was ideal, as it meant we could be involved in some important decisions regarding the interior architecture. Most importantly, we were able to input into the design of the kitchen and the state-of-the-art lighting and automation system. This beautiful country house now boasts an ambitious, eclectic array of design styles and flavours. Some of the rooms are intended to be more neutral and practical for every-day use. While in other areas, Tim has injected plenty of drama through his signature use of colour, statement pieces and glamorous artwork. FORMULATING THE DESIGN BRIEF At the initial briefing stage, our client came to the table with a head full of ideas. Potential themes and styles to incorporate – thoughts on how each room might look and feel. As always, Tim listened closely. Ideas were brainstormed and explored; requirements carefully talked through. Tim then formulated a tight brief for us all to agree on before embarking on the designs. METROPOLIS MEETS RADIO GAGA GRANDEUR Two areas of special importance to our client were the grand, double-height entrance hall and the formal drawing room. The brief we settled on for the hall was Metropolis – Battersea Power Station – Radio Gaga Grandeur. And for the drawing room: James Bond’s drawing room where French antiques meet strong, metallic engineered Art Deco pieces. The other rooms had equally stimulating design briefs, which Tim and his team responded to with the same level of enthusiasm.

This elegant, classic painted kitchen was designed and made by Tim Wood to act as the hub of this busy family house in Kensington, London. The kitchen has many elements adding to its traditional charm, such as Shaker-style peg rails, an integrated larder unit, wall inset spice racks and a limestone floor. A richly toned iroko worktop adds warmth to the scheme, whilst honed Nero Impala granite upstands feature decorative edging and cabinet doors take on a classic style painted in Farrow & Ball's pale powder green. A decorative plasterer was even hired to install cornicing above the wall units to give the cabinetry an original feel. But despite its homely qualities, the kitchen is packed with top-spec appliances behind the cabinetry doors. There are two large fridge freezers featuring icemakers and motorised shelves that move up and down for improved access, in addition to a wine fridge with individually controlled zones for red and white wines. These are teamed with two super-quiet dishwashers that boast 30-minute quick washes, a 1000W microwave with grill, and a steam oven with various moisture settings. The steam oven provides a restaurant quality of food, as you can adjust moisture and temperature levels to achieve magnificent flavours whilst retaining most of the nutrients, including minerals and vitamins. The La Cornue oven, which is hand-made in Paris, is in brushed nickel, stainless steel and shiny black. It is one of the most amazing ovens you can buy and is used by many top Michelin rated chefs. It has domed cavity ovens for better baking results and makes a really impressive focal point too. Completing the line-up of modern technologies are a bespoke remote controlled extractor designed by Tim Wood with an external motor to minimise noise, a boiling and chilled water dispensing tap and industrial grade waste disposers on both sinks. This urban rustic bespoke kitchen is fitted into a new build extension of a Cotswold barn. The furniture fits up against the old outside wall of the original barn. The work surface either side of the Aga is made from 5mm solid stainless steel and the up stand slots into a groove which we cut into the rubble wall. The facades of the furniture is made from constructional oak panels which are heavily distressed and antiqued. The island furniture is made from planked timber and painted. Primary materials: Distressed oak, stainless steel, painted tulipwood planking and Calacatta Oro marble.

For starters, you want to find a balance between aesthetics and function. You may have heard of the ‘kitchen work triangle’, which refers to the space between your fridge, sink and stove. You want everything within easy reach when you’re working in the kitchen and look beautiful at the same time. It’s a good idea to take note of both when browsing our photo gallery.

2. Consider Your Space to Determine Your Kitchen Layout

Firstly, consider the space you have, and the limitations that come with it. Do you have a small kitchen and need to maximise your workspace and storage? Which appliances do you already own and what are their measurements? Are there windows you need to take into consideration when planning cabinets? How do kitchen, living and dining areas connect? Depending on your space and needs, you want to use a shape that suits you. U, G, or L-shaped kitchen, with or without island or peninsula? Know your dimensions, plan cabinetry carefully and consider the placement of your appliances. You don’t want to end up with a finished design, only for your significant other to question where the fridge is supposed to go. Consider from the start where your fridge, oven, microwave and sink goes to save yourself from starting again from scratch - remember the kitchen work triangle! You also want to plan the layout of your cabinets. Maybe you’re planning for a pantry and can do with less storage space in your kitchen, so that your design can be one without upper or lower cabinets for a different look. A corner cabinet can be a smart storage solution if you want to keep the look clean and simple.

3. Decide on a Kitchen Style, But Don’t Forget Practicality

You want the style of your kitchen to reflect your personality and taste.
