We love the night and day transformation this garden took on when our client requested a zen garden for her backyard in Crown Heights, Brooklyn. It’s always fun to be asked to design a garden with so many charming creative elements. Our re-design included brown bamboo fencing to cover a very bright white vinyl fence, a fountain, loose grey stones, dark brown deck tiles, contemporary furnishings, a stone Japanese lantern statue, and white fiberglass planters. The plantings include cherry laurels, bamboo, a red weeping maple, moss, grasses, and variegated euonymus. Overhead globe lights add a cheerful nighttime touch. White planters were one of the most significant design trends in NYC gardens this year. This garden on Manhattan's Upper West Side also includes evergreen junipers, crape myrtle trees, hydrangeas, Japanese andromedas, rhododendrons, and a yellow-leaf Japanese maple. All of the planters contain automated drip irrigation and low-voltage lighting lines. Read more about this garden on my blog, www.amberfreda.com.

Collaborative Interior Design
The outdoor living room was designed to provide lots of seating. The insect screens retract, opening the space to the sun deck in the centre of the outdoor area. Beautiful furniture add style and comfort to the space for year round enjoyment. The shutters add privacy and a sculptural element to the space.

This stunning two-story deck is the perfect place to host many guests - all with different locations. The second-story provides an excellent place for grilling and eating. The ground-level space offers a fire feature and covered seating area. Extended by hardscaping beyond the covered ground-level space, there is a fire pit for even further gathering.
