Crisp American Boxwood Hedges, loosely rounded Burning Bush and the brilliant color of the Red Japanese Maple are the perfect accents for the woodlands beyond. Henry's Garnet Itea spill through the hedge to add seasonal flower color in the spring and red fall color.

The brief for this small suburban makeover was for hardy low maintenance, flowering perennials that would suit a garden frontage.
We worked closely with our clients to select the varieties they preferred that would suit the site and keep within budget.
The gardens were mulched with riverstones in varying sizes to give a natural finish.

Photos taken just after installation, there are more recent photos in this project. The front areas of this landscape were transformed from a tired, water thirsty lawn into a contemporary setting with dramatic concrete pavers leading to the home's entrance and a new driveway using large concrete slabs with small black pebbles set in resin. Plants for sun and part shade complete this project, just completed in February 2014. The back areas of this transformation are in a separate project: Modern Water-Side Landscape Remodel http://www.houzz.com/projects/456093/Modern-Water-Side-Landscape-Remodel---Lawn-Replaced--Novato--CA

A painted steel gate and steel planters anchor the formal entry to this estate. While the anchoring features are masculine and bold, free flowing plant materials soften up the entry space. Synthetic lawn and gravel bands provide maintenance free interest on the ground plane.

What appears to be the entrance to the house is actually the entry drive. Through the drive-through gated passageway is another enclosed courtyard which provides additional parking spaces for the owner's car collection. Photos-Chris Jacobson, GardenArt Group
