A "wine cellar" stair case.

A rarely used Dining room was converted to a Wine room. The wall was bumped out into the garage to make room for an 800 bottle wine cooler (double stacked rows). Frameless doors have gaskets to keep the air inside the cooled space. Each door is hinged at the top and bottom and locks at the floor.Ceiling beams were added along with all the recessed and chandelier lights.. The ceiling was painted a wine color to go with the theme. The cozy club chairs float in their Lucite frames. The custom game table has a reversible top, one side is flat and the other for poker.

This Wine cellar was a very special collaborative project undertaken with the homeowner. It is always an incredible pleasure to assist in turning a wine cellar dream into a reality. The Homeowner's vision was to create this entire underground space from scratch. A stunning wooden grille covers the cooling unit face inside the contemporary wine cellar. Upon walking down the staircase into the modern wine cellar, a backlit horizontal display wall greets you with wines more suitable for drinking now. This space is not temperature and humidity controlled. Walk a few more feet down the staircase, however, and feast your eyes on this beautiful, contemporary showpiece wine cellar. This games room leads into the custom cellar. Recycled timber was used in a new glass door. We refurbished an existing games room & gym, so that it can be used also as an overflow space for wine tasting and entertaining. A vintage wine barrel in the corner serves for a standing bar area. We laid a new timber look plank vinyl to the floor & installed a black & white photographic mural of Sydney Harbour.

This table is made using solid white oak and a barrel from a Napa Valley winery. This table fits perfectly in this room.
