This is a small living room right off the entry to a larger home. The clients wanted this space to set the tone for the home as one that is sophisticated and fun. The simple clean lines of the sectional sofa allow the other pieces in the room to play starring roles. We blended the styles of an antique chair, a classic mid-century table and several other quirky pieces to make a cohesive design statement. Kaskel Photo

This remodel of a mid century gem is located in the town of Lincoln, MA a hot bed of modernist homes inspired by Gropius’ own house built nearby in the 1940’s. By the time the house was built, modernism had evolved from the Gropius era, to incorporate the rural vibe of Lincoln with spectacular exposed wooden beams and deep overhangs.
The design rejects the traditional New England house with its enclosing wall and inward posture. The low pitched roofs, open floor plan, and large windows openings connect the house to nature to make the most of its rural setting.

Using large tiles in a space is going to be even more popular in 2014 because it has fewer grout lines in the final layout. Normandy Designer Karen Chanan went with large, creamy gray tile for this contemporary fireplace design.

The living room is home to a custom, blush-velvet Chesterfield sofa and pale-pink silk drapes. The clear, waterfall coffee table was selected to keep the space open, while the Moroccan storage ottomans were used to store toys and provide additional seating.

This Cinnamon Bark Ledgestone (www.buechelstone.com/product/cinnamon-bark-ledgestone/) fireplace surround is a beautiful focal point for this room. Cinnamon Bark Ledgestone veneer is a Ledgestone pattern stone product in our Building Stone Veneer line. The thin layers of this veneer stone product make for easier dry stack stone installations, having lower heights being easier to course. The warm earth tones of this natural stone are a nice contrast to the cool blue gray tones of the wall and light carpeting. #BuechelStone #StoneVeneer #FireplaceSurround #StoneFireplace #FireplaceStone #Ledgestone #LedgestoneVeneer #DryStackStone #StackStone #StackedStone
