The three-level Mediterranean revival home started as a 1930s summer cottage that expanded downward and upward over time. We used a clean, crisp white wall plaster with bronze hardware throughout the interiors to give the house continuity. A neutral color palette and minimalist furnishings create a sense of calm restraint. Subtle and nuanced textures and variations in tints add visual interest. The stair risers from the living room to the primary suite are hand-painted terra cotta tile in gray and off-white. We used the same tile resource in the kitchen for the island's toe kick.

Our Carmel design-build studio planned a beautiful open-concept layout for this home with a lovely kitchen, adjoining dining area, and a spacious and comfortable living space. We chose a classic blue and white palette in the kitchen, used high-quality appliances, and added plenty of storage spaces to make it a functional, hardworking kitchen. In the adjoining dining area, we added a round table with elegant chairs. The spacious living room comes alive with comfortable furniture and furnishings with fun patterns and textures. A stunning fireplace clad in a natural stone finish creates visual interest. In this Hell's Kitchen kitchen in midtown Manhattan, interior designer Ellen Z. Wright of Apartment Rehab NYC designed the space with storage in mind. An outcrop by the window created a narrow niche down the length of the wall that her clients didn't know what to do with. Ellen designed an 8" deep bank of upper and lower cabinets perfect for pantry and glassware storage. A wood-look tile backsplash and stone-gray floors offer an earthy, elemental vibe, and the transitional design style is great for resale value.

This kitchen remodel was for two empty nesters. Their townhouse had a small working space in the kitchen with a little breakfast nook that served more as a drop zone and storage area than functional kitchen space. We completely reconfigures the spaced by moving the sink and range to the long wall adding a beverage center and drop zone as you enter through the garage and a small island for prep and conversation. The finishes include maple stained cabinet, as they didn’t want a white kitchen, with a dark blue island . They love traveling and collecting momentous from their favorite destinations. The Italian hand blown glass pendant over the sink tied the space together and made it feel special to their style. Overall, the flow is much more functional and offers ample counter space. They love working at the island when making cookies with their grandson.

Our clients have lived in this 1985 North Dallas home for almost 10 years, and it was time for a change. They had to decide whether to move or give the home an update. They were in a small quiet neighborhood tucked away near the popular suburb of Addison and also near the beautiful Celestial Park. Their backyard was like a hidden paradise, which is hard to find in Dallas, so they decided to update the two primary areas that needed it: the kitchen and the master bathroom. The kitchen had a black and white retro checkerboard tile floor, and the bathroom was very Tuscan. There were no cabinets on the main wall in the kitchen before. They were lacking space and functionality and desperately needed a complete overhaul in their kitchen. There were two entryways leading into the kitchen from the foyer, so one was closed off and the island was eliminated, giving them space for an entire wall of cabinets. The cabinets along this back kitchen wall were finished with a gorgeous River Rock stain. The cabinets on the other side of the kitchen were painted Polar, creating a seamless flow into the living room and creating a one-of-a-kind kitchen! Large 24x36 Elysium Tekali crema polished porcelain tiles created a simple, yet unique kitchen floor. The beautiful Levantina quartzite countertops pulled it all together and everything from the pop-up outlets in the countertops to the roll-up doors on the pantry cabinets, to the pull-out appliance shelves, makes this kitchen super functional and updated!

To optimize costs and timelines, our Montecito studio took the existing Craftsman style of the kitchen and transformed it into a more contemporary one. We reused the perimeter cabinets, repainted for a fresh look, and added new walnut cabinets for the island and the appliances wall. You don’t want to end up with a finished design, only for your significant other to question where the fridge is supposed to go. You also want to plan the layout of your cabinets. Maybe you’re planning for a pantry and can do with less storage space in your kitchen, so that your design can be one without upper or lower cabinets for a different look.
