Pro-Land designed and constructed this double entrance driveway creating a grand statement and some major curb appeal for this home. A large heated concrete driveway has plenty of room for cars to park. Gardens full of green and white perennials and shrubs are a classic look throughout every season. Natural stone pillars and walls flank each side of the driveway allowing the entrances to be closed by iron gates when the client wants. Lastly, natural stone walls, on either side of the front porch tie everything together and add some extra character to the house. Home Builder: Toryan Homes

Much of the non-native foliage, which can struggle in LA's climate, is placed in contained gardens, so it can easily be protected from the elements. Unlike accent grasses, succulents hold hydration and pose little danger when potted and well maintained. Ceramic pots will not burn. Like low foliage, they can be placed to keep embers from drifting against vulnerable areas of a home. Photo: Orly Olivier

A raised planter at the pool's edge adds a focal point and creates a place for the Dwarf Magnolia trees . Once fully grown they will add a vertical element. Inset tiles decorate the surface. Colored concrete adds interest to the deck and creates a designated area for the lounge chairs.

After the transformation took place, about 6 months later. The yard was divided into different rooms for different uses. Raised redwood planter boxes were used for veggies and herbs to grow. A vine is being trained to go over the arbor and Callistemon 'Slim' will fill in the "wall" to divide the space. The arbor ushers you into the backyard entertaining area with a sail cloth "ceiling" to block the harsh sun.

Location: Cohasset, MA, US These clients wanted a landscape that had a sense of flow, of unfolding, of mysteries revealed. They love art and were open to ideas beyond the traditional themes, and so the swirls and circles of artist Sonia Delaunay, became the inspiration for this gorgeous coastal property in Cohasset, MA. This garden was inspired by the art of Sonia Delaunay. Along the entire length of the house we made a sweeping serpentine stone wall that swerves around like a great dragon tail. In front of it are deep beds filled with Euphorbia, Lavender, Geranium, Coreopsis, Salvia, and Hakonechloa grass. They sing with blues, purples and yellows, the homeowners’ favorite colors. The entrance to the house meanders up this curving stone staircase, where surrounding plants act as a threshold one passes through before entering the more open space at the top.

We refinished the faded patterned concrete on the front porch then added the colorful soft touch of 2 planters as a focal point. These French urns on front porch are in full afternoon sun so the plants must be heat and drought tolerant. Here we used tropical Ixora to echo the salmon color of the brick house surrounded by purple sun loving coleus for contrast and "pop". Underneath are mixed colors of bronze leaf begonias and yellow moss rose. Photographer: Danna Cain, Home & Garden Design, Inc.
