The original Family Room was half the size with heavy dark woodwork everywhere. A major refresh was in order to lighten, brighten, and expand. The custom cabinetry drawings for this addition were a beast to finish, but the attention to detail paid off in spades. One of the first decor items we selected was the wallpaper in the Butler’s Pantry. The green in the trees offset the white in a fresh whimsical way while still feeling classic. Cincinnati area home addition and remodel focusing on the addition of a Butler’s Pantry and the expansion of an existing Family Room. The Interior Design scope included custom cabinetry and custom built-in design and drawings, custom fireplace design and drawings, fireplace marble selection, Butler’s Pantry countertop selection and cut drawings, backsplash tile design, plumbing selections, and hardware and shelving detailed selections. The decor scope included custom window treatments, furniture, rugs, lighting, wallpaper, and accessories.

A neutral color palette punctuated by warm wood tones and large windows create a comfortable, natural environment that combines casual southern living with European coastal elegance. The 10-foot tall pocket doors leading to a covered porch were designed in collaboration with the architect for seamless indoor-outdoor living. Decorative house accents including stunning wallpapers, vintage tumbled bricks, and colorful walls create visual interest throughout the space. The adjacent wet bar was updated to match the white cabinets and quartzite countertop in the kitchen. As part of the design, Progressive added a large X-style wine rack and a storage garage for the bar blender, bottles of spirits, and other drink accessories. This home bar was added and designed to coordinate with the kitchen cabinetry as if it had been in place from the start; it is identical to the original pantry standing next to it. The wood countertop on the bar, coordinates with the island. The rhomboid-shaped carrara marble backsplash adds interest to this understated bar. The refrigerator drawers in the lower center, along with additional storage for bar equipment, offers the ideal self-serve option for party guests while keeping pathways clear for walking. The bar also creates a natural transition between the kitchen, dining alcove and living room while allowing each to relate to the other.
