The kitchen was to be designed as an open plan lifestyle space that also included a full workstation that could be concealed when not in use.
What Searle & Taylor created:
The kitchen was part of an extension to a detached house that was built during the 1990’s. The extension was designed as an open plan lifestyle space that incorporated a kitchen and separate dining area, a ‘snug’ seating area and importantly, a workstation that could be hidden from view when socialising and entertaining.
Floor to ceiling cabinets were designed against the back wall with a large linear island in front. To soften the look of the room, the corner units were curved at equal angles on either side and includes a tall walk-in larder with internal shelving at separate heights. Also integrated is an extra wide 90cm Liebherr fridge freezer with ice maker and a bank of built-in cooking appliances, as specified by the client.
The large central island with granite worksurface houses nine drawers with shell handles and is designed with a dual purpose: for food preparation and cooking on one side and for relaxed seating with a cantilevered solid oak breakfast bar on the other. The cooking area houses a centrally positioned full surface induction hob, which is directly beneath a flush mounted ceiling hood.
As requested, to the right hand side of the cabinets, a work station was created that could accommodate files, folders and a large screen PC. In order to be as functional as possible, a set of pocket doors were developed on a bi-fold system that return into side pockets to leave the workstation clear and open. Complementing the rest of the cabinetry, the doors feature carved semi-circles within clean lines together with semi-circular handles that reveal a mandala-inspired design when closed.

A traditional kitchen with handmade cabinetry and dovetail joinery was required for this sunny seaside renovation.
The Brief
An ultra-luxurious, authentic kitchen was required for this development project undertaken by our contract department. To tie in with high ceilings and sash windows a traditional theme was sought to impress potential suitors of this wonderful property.
The property is a four-storey townhouse near to the seaside in Worthing and has been developed to an exceptional standard for a private client.
Design Elements
The developer already had an idea of the layout of the space, with a wall-to-wall run and island as the preferred configuration.
To add the authentic, traditional element to the project our handmade British kitchen option from Mereway Kitchens was required, boasting handmade cabinetry and dovetail joinery. A Diamond Grey finish has been opted for, which combines nicely with the sparkling quartz work surfaces.
Special Inclusions
To match the premium furnishings with premium functionality, a combination of Siemens cooking appliances has been utilised. Notable inclusions are a Siemens warming drawer, a combination oven and a Caple wine cabinet.
Integrated appliances have been opted for in the form of Siemens refrigerator, freezer and dishwasher.
Project Highlight
The real standout of this project is the handmade cabinetry, which matches the grandeur of this property in every way. The dovetailed oak joinery is exhibited across all drawers and cupboards in this kitchen space.
Understated door knobs and cup handles have been chosen to match the traditional style.

Revamper Interior DesignWe were approached by our lovely customers in the heart of Cronulla to design a Coastal inspired Kitchen, Laundry, Ensuite and Main Bathroom.
Take a look at the before photos to see how this project has evolved. The transformation is dramatic to say the least.
The Kitchen was the area that required the most attention in terms of use of space. The original kitchen felt small and lacked natural light, coupled with the dark cabinetry and lack of workable bench space the kitchen was in serious need of some love. We were able to breath a breathe of fresh air into this space by removing a wall that separated the kitchen and dining room and also by removing the wall adjacent to the stairwell.
By making use of the space under the stairs and relocating the water heater we were able to free up some width in the room which allowed us to incorporate an island into the design. This created much needed work space but also improved the flow through the kitchen. With light now flooding in from the patio doors and the addition of timber slatted, feature stairwell divide, the kitchen now feels light, bright and airy.
The vertical slats in the stairwell carry on a consistent theme from the main kitchen which showcases vertical VJ groove doors. The complimenting timber elements and honed stone benchtops coupled with the blue shades through the tiles and island joinery tie the space together with multiple layers of colour and texture.
The laundry behind the kitchen continues the same theme but is given its own personality through the choice of light timber benchtop and grey/white terrazzo inspired floor tiles, that really capture the beach side feels.
Upstairs in the bathrooms a very neutral palette of whites and greys was used to keep the space feeling clean and fresh. Some warmth was brought into the bathroom with the inclusion of timber vanities and some texture through the handmade subway tiles on the feature walls.
Aranelli DesignThese modern, handle-less kitchens are a stunning blend of crisp white finishes and warm wood accents. Its clean lines and minimalist aesthetic are accentuated by the absence of handles, giving the space a sleek, streamlined look. The white cabinetry and surfaces create a bright, airy atmosphere, while the wooden elements inject a natural warmth, striking a perfect balance between modern sophistication and homely charm. The kitchens offer not just a stylish cooking area but a seamless, contemporary living space where functionality meets design.
Inscope Management Services LtdDesign, plan, supply and install new kitchen. Works included taking the the room back to a complete shell condition. The original Edwardian structural timbers were treated for woodworm, acoustic insulation installed within the ceiling void, wall to the garden lined with thermal insulation. Radiator and position changed.
The original internal hinged door was converted to a sliding pocket door to save space and improve access.
All the original boiler pipework was exposed and interfered with the work surfaces, this has all been reconfigured and concealed to allow unhindered, clean lines around the work top area,
The room is long and narrow and the new wood plank flooring has been laid diagonally to visually widen the room.
Walls are painted in a two tone yellow which contrasts with the grey cabinetry, white worksurfaces and woodwork.
The Strada handleless cabinets are finished in matte dust grey and finished with a white quartz work surface and upstand
New celing, display and undercabinet and plinth lighting complete this bright, very functional and revived room.
