This beautiful bar was created by opening the closet space underneath the curved staircase. To emphasize that this bar is part of the staircase, we added wallpaper lining to the bottom of each step. The curved and round cabinets follow the lines of the room. The metal wallpaper, metallic tile, and dark wood create a dramatic masculine look that is enhanced by a custom light fixture and lighted niche that add both charm and drama.

The sit - down bar area clad in custom metal and topped with the same Quartzite stone used in the kitchen. The upper cabinet doors have a metal grid insert that works to repeat the pattern found on the sit down bar walls in a smaller scale. The open shelves have integrated LED lights that add an ambient glow.

The wet bar is between the great room, family room and dining room at the end of the entry hall. The location of this bar makes it great for welcoming guests and having family near by when meals are ready to be made. The fusion quartzite waterfall edge on the seating peninsula sets this space apart. The custom wall art has a wash of light that makes it glow.

Our goal for this project was to seamlessly integrate the interior with the historic exterior and iconic nature of this Chicago high-rise while making it functional, contemporary, and beautiful. Natural materials in transitional detailing make the space feel warm and fresh while lending a connection to some of the historically preserved spaces lovingly restored.
