This hutch-like bar helps to transition the kitchen to the adjacent dining and family rooms. The glass-fronted 24" stainless steel wine fridge is flanked by white inset custom cabinetry with pull-outs for liquor. The quartzite countertop, restoration glass, and marble mosaic backsplash framed in blue marble liner bars combine to make an elegant place to stage drinks.

We added a bar between the kitchen and family room, which is perfect for entertaining and additional storage. The herringbone marble backsplash coordinates with the kitchen, as does the quartz countertop. The center glass doors display glassware and add an open feeling. Photography: Lauren Hagerstrom

We had this rustic bar made in Ohio and shipped to LA. It's made of solid reclaimed Oak material and weighed almost a ton. But it was all worth the effort. We used a striking stone counter top and stone mosaic to compliment the dark wood. The floating shelves add a lightness to the space. The wine cabinets were custom made to fit on either side of the bar. The combination of different wood stains adds some depth to the space and gives the space a worn lived in feel.
