This library was in great need of some organization. The cherry wood paneled walls are consistent with the finish in the rest of the home. The walls have a small reveal to add dimension to the clean lines and we added the cedar ceiling which is also consistent with the rest of the home. My client loves purple and this is her study so the added splash of purple for her desk chair adds some character to the room. The floor plan is in harmony with the clients Feng shui request.

The carriage doors offer the homeowner the dual opportunity to easily transport tools and large pieces of wood into the studio, and, also, experience the outdoors while carving.
The natural lighting is excellent, but on overcast days or nighttime, the homeowner can make great use of the recessed lights and the pendant lights.

ASID 2018 DESIGN OVATION SINGLE SPACE DEDICATED FUNCTION/ SECOND PLACE. The clients requested professional assistance transforming this small, jumbled room with lots of angles into an efficient home office and occasional guest bedroom for visiting family. Maintaining the existing stained wood moldings was requested and the final vision was to reflect their Nigerian heritage in a dramatic and tasteful fashion. Photo by Michael Hunter

The homeowner wanted a more fresh, lighter-looking office using their existing furniture. Using his art that we had reframed, we created a French-inspired theme with a lantern pendant and clean, French inspired sconce lighting. An updated side table, rug and desk chair, along with some fun but functional accessories, kept this office feeling warm but much more airy.

THE CHALLENGE: Transform an outdated, uninspired condo into a unique, forward thinking home, while dealing with a limited capacity to remodel due to the buildings’ high-rise architectural restrictions.
THE SOLUTION: Warm wood clad walls were added throughout the home, creating architectural interest, as well as a sense of unity. Soft, textured furnishing was selected to elevate the home’s sophistication, while attention to layout and detail ensures its functionality.
