Abda Custom Window Fashions
Most shades, blinds or curtains allow some type of light through when they are closed which can be very frustrating, especially if you’re trying to take a nap or enjoying a movie in a home theater. Or with the kids being back in school, it’s sometimes hard to get them to bed early with the evening light shining in the room.
We have a solution. That is what blackout window treatments were made for. You can get a variety of products as “blackout”, such as; curtains, shades, blinds, roman shades, honeycomb shades, roller shades, vertical shades, and specialty shades (silhouette, pirouette, luminette).

We were tasked with converting an unused orangery on the side of a beautiful house in Milton Keynes into a multi-purpose golf simulator and cinema room that could be enjoyed by the whole family. The biggest design consideration was the amount of glass and therefore light that flooded into the room. To combat this, we combined fabric cinema panelling with Q-Motion automated blinds to create a safe and suitable environment for the technology. The system itself combines a GSX shooting, racing and golf simulator as well as cinema technology for video streaming. A Dolby 7.2 Surround sound system powered by Artcoustic Speakers of Denmark delivers incredible sound and fills the space very well. This was the first time we had used a cinema sound system to power a sports simulator and the results were incredible, the experience is really brought to life with this level of sound! Finally, Control 4 home automation pulls the whole system together, making everything super easy to control with one simple remote.

Thought I'd post my modest home theatre project for a small room to help people create one without blowing budgets. Goal was to create a room that is for watch TV, movies and playing games. Room is approximately 14' x 18'. Key challenge was for gaming, i.e. Xbox Kinet and Wii, people's movement may get in the way of the projector. The solution was to use a short throw projector. The Benq 1085ST projector was used and there is < 6' of distance from the projector to the screen. The ottoman is movable and so is the seating (with large low friction pads underneath) to allow rearrange as needed. Room is finished off with acoustic panels (absorption on wall and ceiling with bass traps and diffuser in the back walls).
The theatre has Dolby Atmos 7.2.4 setup with 11 total speakers (Front Left, Centre, Front Right, Left and Right surround, Left and Right rear surround, Ceiling front left and right, Ceiling rear left and right, as well as 2 subwoofers. The false wall in the front hides the front left, centre, right and one of the subwoofers.
Georgia Home Theater
The owners of this room were looking for a retreat where they could not only enjoy movies, but escape into music. As a result, this theater was designed with acoustics in mind just as much as the system that went into it. Outfitted with a set of Bowers and Wilkins CI series speakers and an Integra reciever, the audio in this room is unbeatable. To make sure the system runs smoothly, the room is equipped with a Control 4 automation system and an AudioQuest wire package. For the video half of the system, an Epson 3D Projector was hung from the ceiling, displaying on a 110 inch Stewart film screen. To make the retreat space complete, the room was furnished with 6 custom Palliser home theater chairs, allowing the clients to enjoy their ultimate getaway.
