A breathtakingly beautiful Shaker kitchen using concept continuous frames. On one wall, a long run of Concretto Scuro is used for the worktop, splashback and integrated sink with a built-in flush hob keeping the run seamless. The bespoke full height cabinetry houses a deceivingly large pantry with open shelving and wire baskets. Either side camouflages the fridge freezer and a storage cupboard for brushes, mops and plenty of doggy treats.

This bespoke country cottage kitchen was designed and hand built for our clients’ picturesque cottage in the Surrey countryside. They wanted us to create a kitchen with a cosy, inviting feel in a vintage style which felt part of the architecture of their home. We explored ideas and visuals together, before the final design was agreed: a shaker style in oak and a neutral palette with integrated appliances and period features. Traditional charm, timeless quality The bespoke, custom made kitchen enhances the rural character and exposed oak ceiling beams of the space. It’s full of charm, with plenty of made to measure storage and a practical modern range cooker. A shaker-inspired design was chosen for all the cabinet fronts. This is a timeless authentic style with good proportions and a paired-back look that works well in a country kitchen. The simple moulding we’ve introduced here, softens the clean lines and has a delicate classic look. Bespoke grey painted finish The cabinet doors have been spray finished in Farrow & Ball’s Purbeck Stone, an understated, calming grey; which is also used on the handcrafted wall panelling. The wide custom-made worktops in solid oak match the beams and provide a hardwearing surface with a warm feel that will mature beautifully with age. We have oiled the worktops with a durable, clear, matt Osmo oil to retain the natural appearance. Freestanding island We hand built this island to add efficiency, style and storage to the kitchen. The island has been spray painted in Farrow & Ball Moles Breath, a darker, warm grey which injects a bold contrast to the Purbeck Stone. Having a compact island like this offers ours client lots of flexibility in the kitchen, and provides the perfect spot to prepare dishes, mix drinks or read the post with a morning coffee. It’s a useful feature that is fast-replacing the traditional cook’s table.

This kitchen was designed for a family who decided to leave life in the big city and move up to Westchester for more room. The large space exuberates a calm, clean and classic feeling. “I love being brought in as a collaborative partner with both the architect and homeowner. It becomes my job as the kitchen designer to deliver on the vision of which the architect and homeowner are dreaming” says Bilotta Designer Randy O’Kane. The details become the focus, such as in this case, using just the right fluted Bendheim low iron Pyramid textured glass with just the correct proportions. Understanding the appliances (a mix of SubZero, Wolf and Miele) and their exterior panel and space requirements is critical. Framing out each doorway while lining up all the reveals can only happen when the architect has an eye for detail. Ira of Ira Grandberg Architects focuses on how all the surrounding rooms center on the kitchen so that from every angle you see one cohesive space, interfacing with the adjacent rooms. The client had specific "asks" as it related to the door style and color as well as the range and hood (a La Canche French Range by Art Culinaire in Matte Black with Brass Trim with a Custom Hood by Rangecraft.) Kismet is when there are "just the right" number of cooks creating this amazing kitchen. The challenge for the architect was designing a larger eat-in kitchen that did not feel overpowering. With all the light coming in from the many windows they wanted to keep the space bright but not use the typical white paint and so opted for a soft grey for the custom cabinetry. They decided to forgo the cabinet and countertop surfaces on the exterior wall so that they could have a large table for the family to eat meals at together. This also brought an enormous amount of light into the space – very inviting. Nothing says "I love you" more than a kitchen renovation! These homeowners decided to celebrate their nuptials in the best possible way- with a new kitchen! We love how elegant the space is with the Pewter finish by Wolf Cabinetry, the classic white quartz, and herringbone tile backsplash. We wish you many years of beautiful memories- enjoy! Cabinets: Wolf Classic Dartmouth 5 piece in Pewter. Countertop: Calacatta Verona Q Stone Backsplash: Herringbone- Emma White 3X6 Subway Flooring: Mannington Vinyl plank- AduraMax Lakeview/Treeline MAX093 Additional project notes: Wolf soft close rollout, double trash pullout, wire tray divider Thoughts from the customers: 1. What were you looking for in your remodel? We were looking to completely redo the space. We knew we needed a new layout to accommodate the need for more storage, but also to update the extremely outdated cabinets, flooring, etc. to bring it out of 1960 and into 2020. 2. What do you love most about your remodel? I obviously love that everything is brand new. My favorite physical feature is definitely the new backsplash and countertops that we chose! I also have never had soft close drawers so those are spectacular! 3. What was your main concern when deciding on a remodeling company? We really just didn’t want it to take a long time! We were at home during the whole thing because of the pandemic, so it was not realistic to live without a kitchen for months. 4. What made you choose O’Hanlon Kitchens? Would you recommend O’Hanlon Kitchens? Tracy was a great designer, and we ultimately went with O’Hanlon because she discovered some details about the kitchen and it’s functional space that others overlooked and even we didn’t notice. She was then able to render a very nice drawing of what we could expect our kitchen to look like, which was helpful. Yes, I would recommend O’Hanlon! Creating a space to entertain was the top priority in this Mukwonago kitchen remodel. The homeowners wanted seating and counter space for hosting parties and watching sports. By opening the dining room wall, we extended the kitchen area. We added an island and custom designed furniture-style bar cabinet with retractable pocket doors. A new awning window overlooks the backyard and brings in natural light. Many in-cabinet storage features keep this kitchen neat and organized. Bar Cabinet The furniture-style bar cabinet has retractable pocket doors and a drop-in quartz counter. The homeowners can entertain in style, leaving the doors open during parties. Guests can grab a glass of wine or make a cocktail right in the cabinet. Outlet Strips Outlet strips on the island and peninsula keeps the end panels of the island and peninsula clean. The outlet strips also gives them options for plugging in appliances during parties. Modern Farmhouse Design The design of this kitchen is modern farmhouse. The materials, patterns, color and texture define this space. We used shades of golds and grays in the cabinetry, backsplash and hardware. The chevron backsplash and shiplap island adds visual interest. Custom Cabinetry This kitchen features frameless custom cabinets with light rail molding. It’s designed to hide the under cabinet lighting and angled plug molding. Putting the outlets under the cabinets keeps the backsplash uninterrupted. Storage Features Efficient storage and organization was important to these homeowners. We opted for deep drawers to allow for easy access to stacks of dishes and bowls. Under the cooktop, we used custom drawer heights to meet the homeowners’ storage needs. A third drawer was added next to the spice drawer rollout. Narrow pullout cabinets on either side of the cooktop for spices and oils. The pantry rollout by the double oven rotates 90 degrees. Other Updates Staircase – We updated the staircase with a barn wood newel post and matte black balusters Fireplace – We whitewashed the fireplace and added a barn wood mantel and pilasters.
