The most noteworthy quality of this suburban home was its dramatic site overlooking a wide- open hillside. The interior spaces, however, did little to engage with this expansive view. Our project corrects these deficits, lifting the height of the space over the kitchen and dining rooms and lining the rear facade with a series of 9' high doors, opening to the deck and the hillside beyond.

A kitchen can be designed to accommodate the impulses of its occupant, whether she's got a friend over, or just some free time and a project she wants to get done--transforming from social space to private place.

A large traditional home gets a large traditional kitchen -- with some twists. A U-shaped counter gives plenty of space for both prep work and clean-up while easily seating six guests. The far wall is home to the cook-top, wall oven/microwave, additional work space/coffee station and a shallow pantry. The wood hood and subway tile splash highlight this essential area.

This kitchen remodel involved the demolition of several intervening rooms to create a large kitchen/family room that now connects directly to the backyard and the pool area. The new raised roof and clerestory help to bring light into the heart of the house and provides views to the surrounding treetops. The kitchen cabinets are by Italian manufacturer Scavolini. The floor is slate, the countertops are granite, and the raised ceiling is bamboo.

This was an interior renovation of an existing home. The existing kitchen was demolished, new walnut cabinets were designed and installed with white ceasarstone counters and heath tile backsplash. Coordinating walnut cabinets were designed and installed the adjacent living room and entry way.

Even with an open floor plan, our clients desired a "cozy kitchen" from the start. Instead of enclosing the kitchen, it is scaled down to one-story and warmed by exposed beam and wood stained beadboard ceiling. The kitchen opens to the two-story great room with dining and living.
A generous bank of two-story windows face the east-west axis for maximum natural light. The flooring is 6" white oak. The kitchen island is custom-made marble top.
At the back of the great room, behind sliding barn doors, is our client's painting studio.
