This kitchen calls for cozy cooking and baking and the creative combination of an interior brick wall with the rustic cabinets make this kitchen particularly inviting.

We really wanted the island to be an espresso color, but also wanted the countertops to be this Dekton Keranium (dark brown) quartz. The contrast on the back wall with cream and brown allow for the island tone on tone to not be too dark. (can you believe there is a seam in the island 20" in from the left side.....You can't even see it. Get a good fabricator!!!!!

We originally had a second shelf to be installed above the lower shelf...but after studying the space during construction, we changed our mind to only keep the lower shelf.....this is a natural part of the design process. Everything might look great on paper, but as the installation process in on going, we make adjustments as needed....and this turned out great!

We love the open shelves to store her pretty collectibles and everyday dishes. We also made sure to hide the electrical outlets on the sides of cabinets so they weren't in the middle of the brick backsplash.

Purchasing a black range hood to match her black appliances was going to blow our budget....so we purchased a stainless steel hood, and took it to our local powder coating vendor...and for a fraction of the cost, have a matching hood. We also did the same to the drawer pulls....the longer ones would have been 3x the cost of powder coating these SS ones we found at a big box store.

We chose a bronze faucet and sink to really blend in....it works because your eye is drawn to the back wall which is the real focal point of the room with the brick....yet you can't help notice the pendant lights, sink, faucet and countertop in the foreground. It works!
