The Blacked & Rusts liquid metal doors were sprayed in house to match an existing steel cabinet the client owned. The reclaimed timber worktops were originally the ceiling joists from part of the project. All the defects, worm holes and voids were filled with black resin before sanding and top coated in a hard was oil finish.

The kitchen and living room of the 20 year old home built by the owners needed modernizing. The existing kitchen was closed off and dated. To improve functionality and aesthetics we changed the layout. Adding a wide opening into what was the formal dining area and closing off the view from the formal lounge into the kitchen, by building a dividing wall. This new wall has become the back support for pantry, integrated fridge and oven tower. The client was keen to have curved cabinetry to minimize sharp corners and soften the overall look. Curves were added to the pantry cupboard, island bench and the appliance cupboard. To improve the view to the outdoor garden pool area and lighting in the space, the existing glass brick windows and part of the wall were removed to facilitate a large fixed panel window that also works as the splash back for the cooktop. Servo-drive drawers and above cupboard doors were installed to add to the functionality and ease of use. A Zip Hydrotap, pull out spice, oils and chopping board drawers along with a wicker basket for storage of vegetables added the finishing touches. Natural Granite was used for the benchtop and cabinetry was a 2 pak Resene painted finish. The adjacent lounge/living area had ceiling mounted sheer curtains installed along with new carpet and feature wallpaper on the new wall.

Painted white, knotty alder distressed kitchen cabinets with a dark stained wood island for contrast. The counter tops are a group 5 granite to get a more unique pattern and the backsplash is a dark glass custom sheet. The floors are travertine that flows from indoor to the custom outdoor bar out back. The pantry door is a barn door that is stain matched to blend with the island. This lovely kitchen was updated to sell and it did...quickly! We had the opportunity to reface the existing perimeter areas of the kitchen, while replacing the kitchen island with new cabinetry. Perimeter cabinetry is Walzcraft Cabinetry in a paint grade Maple with Eggshell finish to match the desk and hutch areas. Island cabinetry is Wayoint Living Spaces in a Shaker door style and Painted Stone finish. Perimeter countertops feature Arizona Tile Quartz in Lagos. The island features Caesarstone Quartz in Moorland Fog. Walker Zanger backsplash in Waterfall, Mesa Pattern with Moss, Oyster and Onyx blended colors brings the whole kitchen pallet together nicely. The final touches of Belwith-Keeler Hickory Hardware in a Satin Nickel finish compliments the decorative plumbing and appliances. The fireplace is also a part of this project and is highlighted with a Volcano Grey Split-Faced Marble cladding by Island Stone.

This remodel also features a granite countertop with White mist color and a pencil edge. The flooring is a vinyl click lock plant type of flooring by Armstrong in Goncalo color. The kitchen backplash is Crystal shores diamond brick joint with mapei with grout color Iron #107. Other features include Blanco Granite composite farm sink with Cinder color, Moen faucet & soap dispenser with a chrome finish. The hardware is flat black cup pulls for drawers and knobs for all the doors.
