The homeowners liked the idea of two-toned kitchen cabinets, so we opted for a combination of pure white and charcoal gray for dramatic contrast. Brushed gold fixtures and statement brass pulls add warmth and sophistication. The distinctive quartzite counters are a showstopper, with unique veining and striking color variation, from blue to gray to ochre. The shimmering blue-gray backsplash unites the entire space. The overall goal was to create an expansive entertaining kitchen that could accommodate our clients’ large gatherings of family and friends, and provide them with several zones for prepping, serving, seating, and socializing.

MARGARITA BRAVOMARGARITA BRAVO
Our client moved to Miami from New York and didn’t want to lose the New York design sensibility. We wanted to create a space that was airy with lots of light and took full advantage of the 14-foot ceilings. We replaced the home’s dark wood panel flooring with lighter wood panels, which makes spaces appear larger. We played around with mismatching cabinet colors and countertop materials, creating a dynamic kitchen while maintaining the calm color palette. Stunning light fixtures in the dining room and kitchen were selected to add even more interest and light to the space. Finally, bold and whimsical wallpaper in the master bedroom reflects the client’s personality and adds a custom element you won’t see in any other home. --- Project designed by Miami interior designer Margarita Bravo. She serves Miami as well as surrounding areas such as Coconut Grove, Key Biscayne, Miami Beach, North Miami Beach, and Hallandale Beach. This project started as a cramped cape with little character and extreme water damage, but over the course of several months, it was transformed into a striking modern home with all the bells and whistles. Being just a short walk from Mackworth Island, the homeowner wanted to capitalize on the excellent location, so everything on the exterior and interior was replaced and upgraded. Walls were torn down on the first floor to make the kitchen, dining, and living areas more open to one another. A large dormer was added to the entire back of the house to increase the ceiling height in both bedrooms and create a more functional space. The completed home marries great function and design with efficiency and adds a little boldness to the neighborhood. Design by Tyler Karu Design + Interiors. Photography by Erin Little.

This striking space blends modern, classic and industrial touches to create an eclectic and homely feel. The cabinets are a mixture of flat and panelled doors in grey tones, whilst the mobile island is in contrasting graphite and oak. There is a lot of flexible storage in the space with a multitude of drawers replacing wall cabinets, and all areas are clearly separated in to zones- including a dedicated space for storing all food, fresh, frozen and ambient. The home owner was not afraid to take risks, and the overall look is contemporary but timeless with a touch of fun thrown in!

This transitional style enclosed kitchen design is a bright, airy kitchen with light gray, shaker style Crystal Cabinetry kitchen cabinets, accented by Top Knobs hardware and an engineered quartz countertop. The sleek, neutral kitchen is set against the backdrop of an eye-catching Alyse Edwards Half-Baked Tile in "Teal the Timer Rings". The blue backsplash makes this kitchen design pop, but still provides a classic look combined with the hardwood floor and stainless sink and appliances.

Open floor plan living space on the parlor level of this townhouse. The owner wanted the kitchen to be integral during social gatherings, so we designed a U-shaped kitchen with counters facing both the living and dining areas. A small room connects with large sliding doors, doubling as a kid's play area and housing the owners' record and CD collections.

A Fresh & Contemporary Kitchen Design By Burlanes
A Fresh & Contemporary Kitchen Design By Burlanes
burlanes interiorsburlanes interiors
Burlanes were commissioned to design, create and install a fresh and contemporary kitchen for a brand new extension on a beautiful family home in Crystal Palace, London. The main objective was to maximise the use of space and achieve a clean looking, clutter free kitchen, with lots of storage and a dedicated dining area. We are delighted with the outcome of this kitchen, but more importantly so is the client who says it is where her family now spend all their time. “I can safely say that everything I ever wanted in a kitchen is in my kitchen, brilliant larder cupboards, great pull out shelves for the toaster etc and all expertly hand built. After our initial visit from our designer Lindsey Durrant, I was confident that she knew exactly what I wanted even from my garbled ramblings, and I got exactly what I wanted! I honestly would not hesitate in recommending Burlanes to anyone.”

Green HammerGreen Hammer
Green Hammer worked with the client and real estate agent to find a home to renovate to their goals and budget. This 1930’s Alameda house had a robust structure, but the interior was a series of compromised disjointed remodel projects. The clients wanted a contemporary design that could blend with the historic neighborhood. In addition to creating an elegant contemporary design, we air-sealed, added deep insulation, and integrated heat recovery ventilation to reduce energy consumption by 80%. Bookmatched kitchen countertop made from Douglas fir slabs reclaimed from Tualatin. Dining room table compliments countertop with live edge bookmatched design from the same Douglas fir tree. Kitchen cabinets are painted FSC certified maple. Bathroom cabinets FSC certified alder. Custom woodwork by Urban Timberworks. Photography: Jon Jensen
