This early 20th-century house needed careful updating so it would work for a contemporary family without feeling as though the historical integrity had been lost. We stepped in to create a more functional combined kitchen and mud room area. A window bench was added off the kitchen, providing a new sitting area where none existed before. New wood detail was created to match the wood already in the house, so it appears original. Custom upholstery was added for comfort. In the master bathroom, we reconfigured the adjacent spaces to create a comfortable vanity, shower and walk-in closet. The choices of materials were guided by the existing structure, which was very nicely finished.

This Kitchen was designed by Nicole in our Windham showroom. This kitchen remodel features Cabico Unique cabinets with maple recessed panel door style (660/B) and with summer storm (gray paint) finish. This kitchen also includes Silestone Quartz countertop with a Pietra color and a standard round edging. The backsplash around the kitchen features Anatolia Element Color Ice 3x12 and Mosaic Bliss color Iceland 5/8” x 5/8” squares with a bright white BS grout. Other features in this remodel are mirage imagine wood flooring barn wood finish old hickory wood 6 ½ x ½ planks, Kohler stainless faucet, Kohler white haven (apron front sink), and hardware from Jeffery Alexander Satin Nickel 9-1/8” and 6-5/8” handle. What makes this Kitchen remodel unique that the Apron front sink has a ribbed texture so it’s not such a farmers sink, its more new age.

The perimeter kitchen cabinets feature a Cotton finish, thoughtfully contrasted by island cabinets in the Shale finish. The kitchen countertops are Cambria in the color Britannica. The tile backsplash, provided by Marble Systems, is Tayla Decorative Marble in Glacier, Allure Light Multi Finish Yildiz Marble Waterjet Decos 8 13/16” x 11 3/8”. “The client knew what they wanted when they came in so it was pretty easy to choose a style and finish,” said Susan. “We worked the design and after the cabinets came in, the client revealed that they wanted a deeper island so we tweaked the design.
