Entering this project as design consultants, much of the initial design had been executed, so our focus was on some of the smaller, detail elements. The desired feel of the house was that of a rustic, country style, so wood detailing was brought in to highlight key moments, providing emphasis on the connections of the exterior and interior environments. Alder and Hickory wood were introduced in the flooring, windows, and interior trim and were accented by the painted kitchen cabinetry, bringing a warm feel to the spaces. With the creation of a large central island, guests can enjoy the company as much as they can the space.

Monical Design
This kitchen previously housed an undersized island that did not allow for the large farmhouse dining table the family grew to love. The client asked me to assist in designing the new island with high end corbels and a grey soapstone countertop. We incorporated a vinyl upholstered banquette seat that spans the entire length of the 9' Island. We also used a white paint to cover the existing Hickory cabinets and a dark stain to enhance the hood and island in a complementary hue. Photgraphy by: J. Bloom of Nebraska

Cosmopolitan Bath & Kitchen
This farmhouse kitchen incorporates the customer’s love of color and rustic materials. Countertops in soapstone and reclaimed wood complement custom color cabinetry. The wall between the dining room and kitchen was removed to create the space for the island. The reclaimed hemlock came from the rafters of an old New England church.

The counter top is actually a quartz material by Caesarstone called "Chocolate Truffle". The island countertop is Caesarstone in "Espresso". The Backsplash tile is by a company called "Encore". I think the color is "wheat". you can visit this site for more information on the material used throughout the house.
