Perched on wooded hilltop, this historical estate home was thoughtfully restored and expanded, addressing the modern needs of a large family and incorporating the unique style of its owners. The design is teeming with custom details including a porte cochère and fox head rain spouts, providing references to the historical narrative of the site’s long history.

It’s unique design shares a hallway with the dramatic black mudroom and is accessed through a custom-built ‘hidden’ door along the range wall. The goal of this funky space is to mix causal details of the floating wooden shelves, durable, geometric cement floor tiles, with more the prominent elements of a hammered brass sink and turquoise lower cabinets.

Subsequent appointments usually take place in one of our offices and selection centers where our customers consider and modify 3D designs on flat screen TV's. We can also bring sample doors and finishes to your home and make design changes on our laptops in 20-20 CAD with you, in your own kitchen.

O'Brien Harris LLCThis bright urban oasis is perfectly appointed with O'Brien Harris Cabinetry in Chicago's bespoke Chatham White Oak cabinetry. The scope of the project included a kitchen that is open to the great room and a bar. The open-concept design is perfect for entertaining. Countertops are Carrara marble, and the backsplash is a white subway tile, which keeps the palette light and bright. The kitchen is accented with polished nickel hardware. Niches were created for open shelving on the oven wall. A custom hood fabricated by O’Brien Harris with stainless banding creates a focal point in the space. Windows take up the entire back wall, which posed a storage challenge. The solution? Our kitchen designers extended the kitchen cabinetry into the great room to accommodate the family’s storage requirements. obrienharris.com
Dream Kitchens, Inc.The goal of the project was to create a more functional kitchen, but to remodel with an eco-friendly approach. To minimize the waste going into the landfill, all the old cabinetry and appliances were donated, and the kitchen floor was kept intact because it was in great condition. The challenge was to design the kitchen around the existing floor and the natural soapstone the client fell in love with. The clients continued with the sustainable theme throughout the room with the new materials chosen: The back splash tiles are eco-friendly and hand-made in the USA.. The custom range hood was a beautiful addition to the kitchen. We maximized the counter space around the custom sink by extending the integral drain board above the dishwasher to create more prep space. In the adjacent laundry room, we continued the same color scheme to create a custom wall of cabinets to incorporate a hidden laundry shoot, and dog area. We also added storage around the washer and dryer including two different types of hanging for drying purposes.

Le Gourmet Kitchen Ltd.This kitchen was very dated with the natural cherry cabinetry and dark countertops shown in the before photos. Relocating the sink and range created a more ergonomic flow in the kitchen and opened up the space to allow an airy feeling that was not so claustrophobic. We included a bar area in the adjacent room to incorporate a pantry and 2 beverage under counter refrigerators for the young professionals to store their wine and beverages for the nights they entertain family and friends.
The Celadon green base cabinetry was a nice contrast to the white cabinetry and the stained oak floating shelves were a complement to the custom table that was in the dining room. The remodeled kitchen functions well for the couple to collaborate on meals together.
