‘Cappuccino’ brown and ‘Snow White’ high gloss lacquered handle-less doors by Störmer were used to create this recessed beverage/coffee/bar area directly across the main kitchen area and dining room, and is open to the family room below. A large tall pantry unit was added to provide additional food storage away from the main kitchen prep area. A floor to ceiling wine rack was built in a matching accent structured laminate. The wall glass units are made with black tinted glass, back-lit LED glass shelves, and integrated LED under-cabinetry lights. The deep pan drawers provide additional convenient access and storage to commonly used items. Alexandria, Virginia Transitional Kitchen Design with Intriguing Zinc Accents by #MeghanBrowne4JenniferGilmer. Taking a holistic approach to the space, we moved the doorway to the garage first and created a new entrance with a mini-mud room with shelving and catch-all space that helps contain clutter as people enter the home. With the doorway removed from the center of the kitchen, we were also able to create an expansive countertop run with the zinc hood and blue range centered in the space for an ideal work zone. On the adjacent wall, we simply replaced the windows with shorter windows to allow for the sink to sit underneath and overlook the backyard. Photography by Bob Narod. http://www.gilmerkitchens.com/

We found working with Eco German Kitchens a real pleasure. Whilst working with 2 other building contractors on our home refurbishment project it was refreshing to have a company that were professional from conception to completion. After 3 meetings, Sabine designed our amazing kitchen and helped with really important factors like window placement, flooring type and wall postioning, as the kitchen was the main focus of our extension project. We had a concept of what we wanted to achieve and we really loved the product Eco had in the showroom. We were genuinely excited to be working with the team at Eco. We had a really tight deadline, which was booked months in advance, Eco were right on time with the installation team. When they arrived the design had to change slightly due to fabrication of the new extension. Again this was no problem for Eco as the professional installers and Sabine provided 2 solutions, both were really nice, so again this proved vital to the look off the project. The kitchen came in on budget, we felt it was important to disclose our intentions early on, as our whole refurb project was very costly. As the kitchen was our main focus point, we were adamant it had to meet budget and tick all the boxes. Eco returned some months later due to a product fault, the product manufacture responded same day and the Eco installer replaced the faulty product as soon as it arrived with us. The kitchen looks amazing and works seamlessly, the design suits us perfectly and its a real joy to use. The whole team have been fabulous and we would definitely recommend them. The customer service has been fantastic and we really wish them the best. Mike & Vicky

The project’s starting point was to understand the building’s original post and beam structure and to use that internal logic to formulate a sympathetic remodel. With an emphasis on the upper back unit, the owner’s private residence within this recently purchased Edward Killingsworth triplex, the first order of business was to strip the excess out and to return the complex to something that resembled the original. With a limited budget, the tact was to restore where possible, and to insert where needed, but always with a sympathetic eye. The kitchen quickly became the primary focus and it was soon realized that by removing the division between the existing galley and family room that the essence of the structural system could be revealed. Once opened the datum of the layered beams was adhered to with the kitchen reinforcing this overhead water line. The primary internal wall was then highlighted with a new wood veneer with the refrigerator recessed (borrowing a bit of space from the master closet) and the existing heater chromed.
