This bespoke professional cook's kitchen features a custom copper and stainless steel La Cornue range cooker and extraction canopy, built to match the client's copper pans. Italian Black Basalt stone shelving lines the walls resting on Acero stone brackets, a detail repeated on bench seats in front of the windows between glazed crockery cabinets. The table was made in solid English oak with turned legs. The project’s special details include inset LED strip lighting rebated into the underside of the stone shelves, wired invisibly through the stone brackets.
Primary materials: Hand painted Sapele; Italian Black Basalt; Acero limestone; English oak; Lefroy Brooks white brick tiles; antique brass, nickel and pewter ironmongery.

As part of a renovation of their 1930's town house, the homeowners commissioned Burlanes to design, create and install a country style galley kitchen, for contemporary living.
Higham Furniture
A bespoke classic Shaker kitchen painted in Little Greene's 'Scree' (227). The worktop is Caesarstone 'Blizzard' which contrasts the dark grey kitchen cabinets nicely. The white metro tiles work as a splashback behind the Neff induction hob and the freestanding stainless steel Neff extractor. The island has open-shelved cabinets for cookery books whilst the glass-fronted wall cabinets are great for glassware. The Neff ovens, Samsung fridge freezer, and a bespoke larder are tucked away in an alcove.

A breakfast perch incorporated into the Island design is finished in a dark stained oak tying in with the window joinery.
Ridgecrest Designs
Situated in the wooded hills of Orinda lies an old home with great potential. Ridgecrest Designs turned an outdated kitchen into a jaw-dropping space fit for a contemporary art gallery. To give an artistic urban feel we commissioned a local artist to paint a textured "warehouse wall" on the tallest wall of the kitchen. Four skylights allow natural light to shine down and highlight the warehouse wall. Bright white glossy cabinets with hints of white oak and black accents pop on a light landscape. Real Turkish limestone covers the floor in a random pattern for an old-world look in an otherwise ultra-modern space.

A variety of furniture styles were deployed in this bespoke kitchen to give the impression that the room had evolved over time. The central kitchen islands were designed in plaster, with hand planed and finished arched chesnut doors at the ends, typical of the local vernacular.
The dresser uses bespoke espagnolette ironmongery with rounded inside moulds on the lay-on door frame to introduce a French element, while the furniture flanking the Wolf range oven is more Georgian in feel.

There is a lot to consider when designing a kitchen for a busy family. The kitchen is the centre of family life which means it's important to create a space that all the family can enjoy at the same time.
Our brief was to design and create a kitchen that is both practical and beautiful for a busy working family, who enjoy socialising and entertaining guests.
The result: "The new kitchen has really made a difference to day to day life, the end result has exceeded our expectations."

Plaster walls, steel windows, and a white oak plank ceiling give this gathering room and kitchen a transitional feel.
