This is actually a room for to process the fruit and nuts picked on the ranch- not really a kitchen! Rustic custom made and handscraped alder cabinets. Stained medium brown with a dark glaze coat. Kohler sink sets into one solid, thick piece of sycamore slab wood counter. This was custom made by a local craftsman. Random stone slate floor, handpainted glazed tile backsplash with metal tile inserts. This rustic working walnut ranch in the mountains features natural wood beams, real stone fireplaces with wrought iron screen doors, antiques made into furniture pieces, and a tree trunk bed. All wrought iron lighting, hand scraped wood cabinets, exposed trusses and wood ceilings give this ranch house a warm, comfortable feel. The powder room shows a wrap around mosaic wainscot of local wildflowers in marble mosaics, the master bath has natural reed and heron tile, reflecting the outdoors right out the windows of this beautiful craftman type home. The kitchen is designed around a custom hand hammered copper hood, and the family room's large TV is hidden behind a roll up painting. Since this is a working farm, their is a fruit room, a small kitchen especially for cleaning the fruit, with an extra thick piece of eucalyptus for the counter top. This residence was designed to be a rural weekend getaway for a city couple and their children. The idea of ‘The Barn’ was embraced, as the building was intended to be an escape for the family to go and enjoy their horses. The ground floor plan has the ability to completely open up and engage with the sprawling lawn and grounds of the property. This also enables cross ventilation, and the ability of the family’s young children and their friends to run in and out of the building as they please. Cathedral-like ceilings and windows open up to frame views to the paddocks and bushland below. As a weekend getaway and when other families come to stay, the bunkroom upstairs is generous enough for multiple children. The rooms upstairs also have skylights to watch the clouds go past during the day, and the stars by night. Australian hardwood has been used extensively both internally and externally, to reference the rural setting.

The kitchen was 'rough' when the owners bought this condo. The beams had been stripped of years of paint, and the cook top and sink were in place. The architect completed the built-in cabinets around the refrigerator, added a pantry, created a customized island (with hidden liquor cabinet - behind the blue door). New lighting was installed, the owner opted for track lighting since recessed lighting was not an option without dropping the ceiling. Under cabinet lighting was added as well as the unique Italian porcelain backsplash tiles.

Award winning, this new-build won Best Timber Frame and Best Interior 2012 and it's easy to see why. A modern open plan interior with an abundance of glass, timber and metalwork, our clients chose the simple Baker & Baker ‘Shaker’ design for the kitchen cabinetry. Dark grey paintwork and brushed steel fittings go together beautifully with the solid oak worktops and dark stone floor. A long narrow island with breakfast bar runs parallel to the wall cabinets and a built in fridge freezer cupboard with steel clad doors adds to the overall contemporary feel

This small cottage had a small kitchen and very little storage space. To accommodate a large fridge freezer, a washing machine, a dishwasher and an oven and still have useful storage space and worksurface was tricky. A tall and deep larder cupboard beside the fridge was the answer to storing food and the well designed corner cabinet accommodates all pots and pans. The pull-out shelf under the sink allows easy access to all the cleaning products. Other features such as plinth drawer, a small wall cupboard and wall shelves on brackets for kiln jars added valuable storage space without making the room too small. The freestanding washing machine was hidden behind a curtain for added colour and a bit of extra worktop above.
