The Sales Center is located at the Gallery of Homes at The Pinehills in Plymouth, MA. Crisply detailed with wood shingles and clapboard siding, this home speaks to the New England vernacular. The roof was clad with a sustainable rubber product (recycled automobile tires!) to mimic the look of a slate roof. Copper gutters and downspouts add refinement to the material palate. After the Sales Center was constructed, the "model home" was added to the adjacent property (also designed by SMOOK Architecture). Upon completion of the "model home," the Sales Center was converted into a two bedroom “in-law suite,” bringing the combined total area to approximately 5,000 SF. This Mid Century inspired kitchen was manufactured for a couple who definitely didn't want a traditional 'new' fitted kitchen as part of their extension to a 1930's house in a desirable Manchester suburb. The key themes that were important to the clients for this project were: Nostalgia- fond memories how a grandmother's kitchen used to feel and furniture and soft furnishings the couple had owned or liked over the years, even Culshaw's own Hivehaus kitchenette that the couple had fallen for on a visit to our showroom a few years ago. Mix and match - creating something that had a very mixed media approach with the warm and harmonius use of solid wood, painted surfaces in varied colours, metal, glass, stone, ceramic and formica. Flow - The couple thought very carefully about the building project as a whole but particularly the kitchen. They wanted an adaptable space that suited how they wanted to live, a social space close to kitchen and garden, a place to watch movies, partitions which could close off spaces if necessary. Practicality: A place for everything in the kitchen, a sense of order compared to the chaos that was their old kitchen (which lived where the utility now proudly stands). Being a bespoke kitchen manufacturer we listened, drew, modelled, visualised, handcrafted and fitted a beautiful kitchen that is truly a reflection of the couple's tastes and aspirations of how they wanted to live - now that is design! Spring has arrived in the Newtown Bucks County "farmhouse" kitchen. Interior Designer, Nancy Gracia coupled this stunning La Cornue Fe stove with a custom zinc hood. Bardiglio hexagonal marble complement the stainless appliances and serve as a graceful backdrop to the subway marble set in a brick pattern throughout the entire kitchen. Custom beaded inset hand brushed cabinetry is a nice contrast to the thin pine planking flooring. Unlacquered brass hardware and soapstone countertops complete the custom cabinetry. This Old House Carlisle, 25th Anniversary

I was asked to design the butlers pantry, wet bar, kitchen and home office hall for the 25th Anniversary This Old House Project in beautiful Carlisle MA. It was an honor to be part of such a prestigious project. The butlers pantry I wanted to have an old farm house house feel, choosing warm historic yellow which I added a grey glaze created a color that resembled maize. Hand plained mahogany wood tops. Bead board back splash and glass mullion cabinets with by pass doors add an elegant feel of a by-gone time.

By not having any upper cabinets, the space feels less crowded and bigger, as if it belongs to a larger home. The few cabinets in the kitchen are efficiently utilized, but we had to compensate for storage elsewhere. We have designed a custom hutch for Michelle that serves multiple purposes. It not only provides storage for overstock from the kitchen but also acts as a hub for her electronics, paperwork, printer, filing drawer, and craft supplies. The kitchen is influenced by Scandinavian design, featuring playful shades of pink on the walls, the floating shelf, and the vintage spice cubby (coral). Timeless black and white accents throughout the space complement the pink accents in a subtle way.

For starters, you want to find a balance between aesthetics and function. You may have heard of the ‘kitchen work triangle’, which refers to the space between your fridge, sink and stove. You want everything within easy reach when you’re working in the kitchen and look beautiful at the same time. It’s a good idea to take note of both when browsing our photo gallery.

2. Consider Your Space to Determine Your Kitchen Layout

Firstly, consider the space you have, and the limitations that come with it. Do you have a small kitchen and need to maximise your workspace and storage? Which appliances do you already own and what are their measurements? Are there windows you need to take into consideration when planning cabinets? How do kitchen, living and dining areas connect? Know your dimensions, plan cabinetry carefully and consider the placement of your appliances. You don’t want to end up with a finished design, only for your significant other to question where the fridge is supposed to go. Consider from the start where your fridge, oven, microwave and sink goes to save yourself from starting again from scratch - remember the kitchen work triangle! You also want to plan the layout of your cabinets. Maybe you’re planning for a pantry and can do with less storage space in your kitchen, so that your design can be one without upper or lower cabinets for a different look. A corner cabinet can be a smart storage solution if you want to keep the look clean and simple.

3. Decide on a Kitchen Style, But Don’t Forget Practicality

You want the style of your kitchen to reflect your personality and taste. Consider what your cooking style is for a start - Italy is known for its cuisine, so italian kitchen designs are generally popular.
